So Thankful!!

We started looking at houses before we even set a date! I wasn't sure where I was going to be working, and was hoping to go back to my old job.  We decided on a few suburbs, and looked within a mile of train stations in those burbs so DH could easily take the train to work.  Then we decided to stay in the condo for a while, decided we could make it work (650 sq ft, that he lived in for 5 years, and I had a 2br townhouse that I was renting... I would have to do MAJOR downsizing).  Last winter, there were half a dozen units for sale in the building.  But then a few different things fell into place, my new job is 25 miles outside the city and we had really noisy neighbors in the condo.  As soon as I got the verbal job offer (two weeks before the wedding), DH put the condo up for sale. It was listed on our wedding day!  Miraculously, it was the only one-bedroom listed for all of August.  We got a lowball offer in September,  then they upped it considerably (even though it was still less than we wanted).  We took it then kept praying everything would work out.    It did- we closed on both the sale of the condo and purchase of our house 3 months ago (as you may remember).

So now for the thankful part...  DH still checks out the inventory in the old neighborhood, and specifically the building.  We knew there was a short sale in the building...  but the short sale has dropped $20k, and is now $65k under what we sold our place for! The highest listed for a 1-br is still $30k under what we sold ours for!! We are so lucky to have gotten out of there when we did.   Even though I am currently cursing our old owners for painting over peeling paint and nail holes without properly filling them in... I am so thankful to be out of the condo and in our house!! Plus my commute is now 1/4 of what it was ;)
