The short version is this: The new govenor wants to have all public employees pay more into their pensions and benefits (this is not the biggest issue) on top of that he wants to take all bargaining rights away from public employee union. Meaning teachers wont have the ability to decide class size, prep time, length of teaching day, and many other things.
The teachers in my districts got a phone call saying that if we were to call in today we would face disciplinary actions. However over 400 teachers still called in, with only 300 subs in the district. As a permit teacher I'm still at work. boo. Damn the man save the worker!
