The past couple of days my heart seems to be beating faster than normal and sometimes it feels as though it pauses and then starts beating again.
Wasnt sure if anyone else had this same thing when they were pregnant?
I have been stressed lately about the downs syndrome test so maybe that is what is causing it.
Re: PG or MOMS
You can buy a blood pressure cuff at Walgreen's/CVS for cheap if you want to monitor at home.
So, but seriously, calm down the DS worry. Seriously. The tests are so unreliable it's ridiculous. Unless you're going to abort if the baby does have DS, there's nothing you can do to change the circumstances - even from day one there's nothing you could've done to alter the life path of this baby.
I am sure the baby is 100% "normal." And if it's not, you're still receiving a sweet little baby filled with sweetness (okay, they're really just full of meconium, but you know what I mean) who has no idea if it does or does not have DS. A child with DS will be some extra work, perhaps, but it could also profoundly change you/your life in a way a "normal" baby ever could.
And all of this worry and stress isn't good for the baby. So stop it.
I did get my second blood work results back and my risk went from 1/135 to 1/560 and the test was negative. So I am not stressing over it now and like you said there is nothing we can do to change anything if by chance there is anything wrong.
I think I was just worried all last week waiting for the results.
Thank goodness we leave for a cruise on Sunday the 27th as I need to relax and get away.
I never had any issues with my heartbeat when I was pregnant. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
However, I wanted to send you a link to this blog. While DS does seem scary this family handled it with flying colors. I hope by reading this you will get a little more peace with the potential of DS. But I also agree with Nicole, not amount of worrying will change the outcome and those tests aren't super reliable! Just think of it this way......you have a 583 chance out of 584 to have a perfectly "normal" baby!!
