gotta buy a dress to have DD's pic taken for our Christmas cards...
last year, we did a simple red dress on her, and it came out really well - - lots of focus on her, not so much on the dress... here's the picture we used for last year's Christmas cards...
anyway, I'm in the process of trying to find a dress for her to have her pics taken this year, and I'm a little torn.
There's this one:

http://www.hannaandersson.com/style.asp?from=SC|12|1|156|7|2||
Which I adore, but here are the "buts"...
It's really similar to last year's... but I think nobody will notice that but me!
The shoes are what make it really pop, and they're super spendy... I can see if I can find other red shoes, but that becomes a whole production...
Then, there's this one, which I also adore:

DH doesn't like it as much (so it would require some convincing)... it's not as traditionally "christmas card"-y, but I think it would be super cute... and she'd definitely wear it for things other than the pics (it's plain cotton)... and I don't think she'd need the shoes (but, of course, the leggings are another matter)
They're both from the same company (Hanna Andersson, who I love!) and are exactly the same price, so that's not a factor.
of course, it really MATTERS not at all.... I'd just like to hear opinions on which people like...
thanks!

Re: (@): baby style advice sought...
I like the first one more - but really neither of them say "christmas" to me, specifically, kwim? I think you could go farther. Would you be ok with a more formal dress?
I definitely prefer the first one. I bet the second is cute in person, but I think in the picture, the baby looks like a candy cane.
Macy's Christmassy outfits are all on big sale right now - I don't know if you were wanting to look anymore or if you're strongly tied to one of these two outfits.
ETA: The Childrens Place has red shoes for less than 20 bucks.
More "formal" dresses tend to have prints... I think, for the picture anyway, that it's really important to keep it a solid color, so the focus is on DD, not on the dress...
I kind of like this one, but DH has already vetoed it:
...and this one, but I worry about photographing her in white:
they have this, but I think it's too "fussy"
I like this one a lot, too:
this one seems to be the most "formal" they have for her, and it comes in red - - but it's like a dusty rose, not a true red:
grrrr....
so confusing!!!!
I am the 99%.
I think the 2nd one looks too costumey. ?More like you're dressing her up to be a candy cane for Halloween.
I'm sure you can get inexpensive red shoes somewhere. ?Payless is always a good quick option (for cheap Chinese shoes probably made by children her age!)?
LOL!!!

Just be like Sarah Palin and buy a bunch, see what works, and return/donate to charity the rest!
Edit: And if you can do this on someone else's nickle, all the better!

you know, I've been looking for a dark green dress for her - because I've been thinking the exact same thing - - and I haven't been able to find one anywhere...
ETA: and, Hanna's now having an amazing sale on dresses, so I'm all a twitter to buy one before they sell out...
I am the 99%.
nope, those are the two colors it comes in...

I tried google searching for you. ?I just ended up scared. ?$75 for an infant dress?! ?That was from Polly Flinder's, and I know my grandma shopped there for us.
And then there are crazy costumey things, like wrapping paper. ?And then there are mini-adult-slut things. ?
I think this little exercise has shown me that kids won't ever be my thing. ?Aren't I supposed to respond with ooooh how cute, baby girl clothes??
ETA: OMG I just saw a strapless baby sized gown. ?WTF?
seriously:
Hanna Andersson, Gap, Old Navy, Gymboree, Crazy 8's, Childrens' Place, Macy's, Nordstrom...
none of them have anything remotely dressy in dark green... I've even been scoping out Goodwill and the like looking for a green dress and come up with nothing...
It's a little frustrating!

no, it's horrible.
that's why I find a couple of companies I like and just stick with them... some of the stuff for toddlers and little girls is just completely mind-boggling...
and sooooo expensive.... I'm trying to pick fast so I can get in on the Hanna A. sale - - all their dresses are $19, $29 and $39 - a HUGE bargain for them, and for baby dresses in general... but it amazes me what people will pay for kid clothes - -- -
sorry, but I'm not paying more for a shirt for her than I do for myself.
unless, of course, it's reeeeeeeeally cute!

OK, here's a burgundy one from Walmart. ?At least it's definitively different than the candy red of last year. ?And it's less than $20.
?
ok I am finally back
This is from gap. the color seems a bit dark bit the ribbon is a bit more "dressy". It totally depends what you want though. I like those other hannah dresses.
I like this one too!
I'm gonna agree. It looks very holiday to me, and is my favoritte if you can't find a green.

I also think the blue one is best. ?And lyss is right. ?It will still look holiday-ish because it's dressy, and it will be on a card. ?It's not like anyone will mistake it for 4th of july.?
Ok...Dillards, $24 bucks

I like the very first one you posted. Also really like the (bonus: cheap!) wal-mart one sibil posted. Ditto lyss--the blue one is beautiful and I don't think you should shy away from it just because it's not red or green.
The one I found is from Dillard's, and it's $24 bucks. For some reason it wouldn't let me write that above.

I love it!
totally cute...
we don't have dillard's out here... and I'm a big fan of touching fabrics before I buy stuff... I'll have to see if it's sold elsewhere... thanks!
