What do you guys do in the music class? I am always feeling so freaking guilty I haven't put my kid into any activities like this besides swim lessons last summer. Is it expensive? Does he like it? How long and often is it?
Re: bucks
ok so, the program is called We Joy Sing and we LOVE it. it's 1 class for 30 minutes a week for a 10 week period and it's $100. it starts at like 6 months and goes up to elementary school age...not sure how high.
bennett loves going...it's really laid back so that works for us. they realize that toddlers do not want to always follow the rules so it's ok if they wont want to sit in your lap to sing the songs. i let B do whatever...unless he's getting into trouble. we always sing the same song when class starts and it's his favorite. he likes to stand up and rock back and forth and smile and clap
honestly, the song soothes him too....if he's throwing a fit in the store and i can't settle him, i sing it and he smiles. amazing.
the songs are really interactive...the teacher brings instruments (wooden sticks, trianlges, maraccas, etc.) so the kids can play them. when it's time to put them away she sings "sticks away (whatever instrument they have), sticks away, it's time to put the sticks away"...and it's AHmazing...the kids all walk over and put the freakin toys away by themselves! its' so cool
i sing at home to get him to help put his toys away. totally works.
since he started, i think this class has helped him wiht his motor skills and social skills too. it's only 30 minutes once a week, but i know it's great for him
you should see if there' something in the area like it. also, something else that a lot of kids this age like is gymnastics....audrey might really like that. i think i started that around her age
