Veggie garden???

Who is planning to do a veggie garden again this year?

What will you plant?

My parents always do one, and we help them with it to reap the benefits :)  I kind of want to have our own little garden too, but our new next door neighbor lets their dog run amuck and crap in our yard :(

On the list is:  Tomatoes, green bell peppers, jalapenos, radishes, onions, rhubarb, and lettuce of some sort.  We also do sage and basil.  Not sure what else we will do.

Re: Veggie garden???

  • I would like to, but I don't think we really have a good spot for one, and definitely not a spot that we could easily keep Satchel out of.  We actually get very little sun in our backyard because of all the huge trees, so I doubt many veggies would grow.  :(

I really like having the peas that we grew in a container at our apartment 2 years ago...maybe I'll try that again this year and see if I can figure out a way to keep them out of Satchel's reach.

Last year, my sister's dog kept getting into the garden and picking the peppers and tomatoes (little devil).  My Dad has plans this year to stake out the corners and wrap chicken wire to box the garden in so my sister's dog cant get in (hopefully).

  • I would do one but my yard is too small and the dogs rule it now. When we move to a bigger house, that would be when we would do it.

Plus I have a black thumb, I always forget to water things, so I am not sure how I would do with these.

  • We are just going to plant some bell peppers and tomatoes this year, because it has to be on the side of our house, outside of the fence, or else Blakely will dig them up.

We have a huge backyard, so we're planning for some big changes next spring (we're saving for it now). Going to get a big shed (the ones that look like mini houses) for the backyard and plant tons of things. We are going to have a white picket fence put up around that area to keep Blakely out, but still leaving her the majority of the yard to run around in.

  • We will be planting a garden again, probably tomatoes (regular and cherry), green peppers, banana peppers, zucchnini, yellow squash, basil and cilantro. We want to try cucumbers too, but we'll see. We'll have to make the garden bigger if we want to fit more stuff.
