Rescheduling a phone interview?

So, I had a phone interview with an HR person today that went well. I told her my basic availability in case of a next one, and she emailed me later in the day with "Phone interview #2 is at X time." It's in the range I told her, but I had a meeting scheduled that I just can't miss. So I emailed her back to reschedule and gave her a huge range of time that might work. That's okay, right? I mean, that sort of thing happens and HR people understand that things come up?

Forgive my navel gazing, I just haven't done this in awhile and am all nervous nelly about it.

I'm sure it's fine. HR people are used to working around schedules.

What's done is done but I would NOT have asked to rescehdule after she fit the meeting within the timeframe you provided. What is more important: the job you are planning to leave or the job you are trying to get?

I know, it's not ideal. I just don't want to mess up the job I have before getting another one. Does it make a difference that she reschduled our first interview?

It is not ideal, but I also don't think it's the end of the world as long as you gave advanced notice, which it sounds like you did. I have been a hiring manager and had people ask to reschedule and as long as they gave reasonable notice and I had not lined up a full day of interviewing with several people that I had to reschedule it was no big deal.

I have to schedule a lot of phone interviews for people I support...not a big deal that you need to move it. Sometimes the people doing the interviewing have to move the times as well. Stuff happens, we know that. People doing the interviewing (both on the phone and in person) are actually more flexible than one might think. Or maybe it's just my company.

I didn't mean to imply that it was a deal breaker. Apologies for the way my post came off a bit abrupt. What matters most is how you handle yourself when things don't go 100% smoothly. I wouldn't know how the scheduler would react and I'm sure that when (not if, but when) you nail the interview, the rescheduling will be a non-issue, which is probably was to begin with.
