BR - so I have gestational diabetes... this week blows
I got my test results from Monday. I do have gestational diabetes. I am heading for a class in the morning at the hospital so I am in a whirlwind of emotion right now. I think I am officially over it. I also found out today one of my favorite Senior Executives died last night which just puts the icing on the cake. Wish me luck as I got to these classes and figure all this out in the next week or so. I know our niner vibes are good so I need some to get through the week.

Stand up for something you believe in.
So sorry on both fronts. LIke pp have said, GD is manageable. It sucks, but it's short-term. Try to remember that: it's not forever. A friend of mine had it for each of her pregnancies and once you just get the diet down, it's not insurmountable.
As for the loss of your colleague, I am very sorry. I've experienced that myself (my editor-at-large, who was a mentor to me, died of a heart attack and it was completely unexpected and shocking) and it's an odd thing to experience because it's not family or a "friend" but it's still grief and it's still hard. Just remember to let yourself feel those feelings, and hopefully you have coworkers who are feeling the same way and you can share memories and your grief with them.
Good luck at the appt! Keep us updated!

Like PP's have said, try not to stress about the GD too much. It is manageable, and you and baby will be fine. It's good that you know you have it so you can manage it. And, it is just as the name suggests - it's caused by gestation, thus it will go away once you give birth. So, just a couple of months of changing your diet, and all will be well.
::hugs:: Here's hoping you get some good news soon!
Sorry Kelly. I hope things turn around quick.

My t&ps are with you.
I know several women that had GD and with just the diet change everything turned out great. Once my cousin came home with the baby, I arrived with the apple danish she craved for 4 mths. As PP's said it's temporary and as long as you and the baby are healthy nothing else matters.
