BR T&P: Frank Breech @ 36 Weeks

We just got home from our 36 week OB appointment and baby boy is frank breech:

image

We have scheduled a version for Friday, 2/25 @ 8:00 a.m. but we have our next weekly appointment on Thursday 2/24 @ 5:40 p.m. so they can will be able to check his position one more time before the version appointment.  Good news is my cervix is still closed, so there's still cooking time for him in there and time for him to flip.

This explains the burning sensation I've been feeling in my right ribs (this is where his head is pushing hard on my ribs) and the pain in my left ribs (which is where he's tapping his little toesies).

We're kind of freaking out though because if something goes wrong they'll have to do an emergency c-section that day, so I'll be 37 weeks and that means a baby in 8 days.  This is unlikely, but it's still a possibility.  However, if we don't try and he doesn't flip on his own, I'd have to have a c-seciton anyways, which I really really don't want obviously.

So if you ladies could send some awesome niner vibes, thoughts, prayers, whatever our way that this little guy will flip back to head down, which he's been this WHOLE time until now, we would appreciate it.

Re: BR T&P: Frank Breech @ 36 Weeks

  • T&P's for lil' guy to stay in there and cook!! Hope he turns himself around and everything goes acording to plan. Everything will work out, even if he has to take the window exit instead of the door. :)  Keep us updated!
  • Lots of T&P your way.  I hope baby boy flips around on his own but if he doesn't it, hope the version goes well.  Keep us posted!

  • Thinking about you, lady! Teach that baby to be a gymnast. Lots of thoughts and prayers your way.
  • I was joking with my younger sister (who is a cheerleader) that maybe baby boy would be a male cheerleader because he was cheering on the Packers all throughout the super bowl.  I didn't think he'd take me seriously and start practicing the pike position now though.  Crazy little baby!  Let the ridiculous positions begin!!
  • I already commented on your FB post, but just want you to know I'm thinking of you and hoping you can avoid that c-section!

  • Aww man that sucks! Frank breech is one of the best breech positions you can ask for though. I've read that position can dialate the cervix as well as the head does.

Anyway, did your doc suggest any exercises for helping baby to turn on his own? I'd double check with your doc before trying these things on your own but I've heard of these suggestions working, especially the pelvic tilt.

    Good luck!!

  • Oh man, I'll be sending baby somersault vibes your way!  I'm sure he can get himself back there, and hopefully you can avoid a c-section.  But it sounds like they have all the scenarios laid out, and that you are under good care.  We'll be thinking of you, keep us posted!

  • I read this on FB last night! I'll be sending lots of t&p your way! I really hope he flips on his own....as I'm sure you do too!
  • Flip baby! Wheee! It's fun! Smile Good luck friend!
  • I'll be sending all sorts of vibes your way ! I really hope he turns himself around naturally. From what I have heard, it's not a walk in the park when the OB tries to move them. Hopefully he cooperates and realizes that head down is the way to be.

  • Thanks ladies for all the.positive thoughts. Our midwife gave us a ton of positions to try between now and Thursday to try to get him to move on his own. At this point I'm thinking if he hasn't moved when they check on Thursday I'm going to request we move the version back a week to give him more baking time in the oven incase they do have to do an emergency c-section which again isn't likely but I don't like that there's even the chance. The version I've been told is really really painful and they can give you a shot to help but I've already declined that. I told them I'll consider it to be warm up for laboras I'm confident that I can handle the pain. In the mean time I look ridiculous sitting spread legged in my office chair which is supposed to open your pelvis and make more room for baby. I'll try anything!
  • Oh my, I'm so sorry! It sounds like you have a good game plan, though. I'll be thinking of you and the little one! Keep us updated!

  • I really hope he flips for you! Coming from someone who had an emergancy c-section (that was really really not wanted) just remember there are worse things that could happen. Yours and his health is what matters - but hopefully thats through a more natural birth Smile

Yes   I'm going to have Joel read this outloud to my crotch later tonight when we're doing the exercises and trying to coax baby S down into position lol!

  • Good luck Christina! I hope the version works.  I know what it's like to have unexpected complications towards the end.  Just know that whatever happens you will forget all about it once your little man is here.  Promise!

Thanks so much.  I know in the end all that matters is that we're all healthy and that little man makes it into the world safe and sound :)

  • You are welcome.. It's so tough near the end..  Hang in there and enjoy the the few weeks left of your pregnancy. The birth will be beautiful no matter what!

Thank you again. I know no matter what we'll just be thrilled to be holding our baby. I'm just really scared of the surgery if.its needed because I've never.had any type of surgery or anesthesia before.
