How was your week? Meal ideas? Plans for the weekend?
I ran once this week. Once.
My sister and her family are coming to stay with us this weekend and I have spent every free moment cleaning my house, doing laundry, grocery shopping, etc. to get ready for their visit! I am especially sad since today is soooo beautiful and I have a couple more errands to run after school today and won't have any time to squeeze in a run before their arrival. We'll be doing a lot of fun stuff this weekend like sledding, hiking and ice skating so I that will keep me a little busy. I'm off next week for school vacation so hoping to get some runs in outside.
I made a yummy turkey kielbasa, kale, tortellini soup this week. Very good.
I'm making a turkey chili for tomorrow. BUT tonight we're ordering out pizza. Oh well.
Not sure what the vacation will bring for meals. We have lots of plans so I have a feeling good choices might be hard when we'll be on the run. I am soooo looking forward to the warmer weather that is on the horizon!
Re: Fit Chick Check-in
Awesome Shuga!!!
Okay, so I need to share my fitness fail. Yesterday DH and I were going to run together in the quiet neighborhood I often drive to. Well, I tried to tell him where to park where it was flat. But he was too quick and we went in the ditch. Had to call AAA to pull us out. Fail.
But I'm heading out for a run in 5...as soon as I get Adrian down.
Insofar as good food...we have plenty. Just not always so lean....which is why we must exercise!
That's awesome!!
My week was ... ehhh I did okay.
Zumba started back up on Monday and Kelly seriously brings it, so I had an intense workout Mon. & Wed. evenings.
Tuesday I was supposed to run and Mr. Man was supposed to go to the gym with his buddies but nobody was feeling well so we all canceled and watched TV on the couch instead. Oh well!
Last night I was supposed to run 3 miles but after the first mile I got a horrible stomach cramp so I struggled through till 2.5, then called it a night.
Saturday I need to run and Sunday I need to do a long training run. At this point my half-marathon training can be considered lackadaisical at best. Fortunately I'm extremely stubborn so that will get me to the finish line if nothing else LOL.
Food-wise I did fairly well except for the Milky Way Midnight I ate with lunch yesterday. It was a fairly large moment of weakness!
Tonight's menu isn't exactly healthy - pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon, smashed potatoes, roasted green beans w/shallots (ok that part is healthy), wine ... again, oh well. I'm being careful most of the time and it all seems to come out in the wash!
I love you, but I kinda hate you right now.
This week, I was AWFUL and it will more than likely continue throughout this weekend home. And I'm OK with that. I did workout all last weekend through Monday, by once DH got home (unexpectedly!) on Monday, it all went out the window: takeout Greek pizza on Monday, Outback (ick) on Tuesday after registering @ BRU, Officer's dinner on Wednesday, macaroni & cheese w/ hot dogs last night before we went to a play. Oh, and no working out. Bad, bad girl.
Next week should shift back to normal for the most part- the weather is getting much warmer, so I'm hoping DH and I can get out for walks in the evening, and on the nights it is too cold I can do my Long & Lean routine. I think we'll be doing a lot of healthy home cooking since we were so bad this week, although we do have Supper Club on Tuesday night, so that will probably be bad.
I completely fall off the wagon when DH is home from sea, it's rediculous!

I feel like I'm starting to finally see the results of my efforts which is good! The scale is slowly starting to budge again, and I feel like my pants are starting to fit better. My thyroid levels were a little low which may have been part of the problem; I'll start a higher dose tomorrow so maybe that will help move things along too.
I've been doing 5 days of exercise a week and am proud of myself that I've been doing this since the beginning of January. It's not something I usually stick to this long, and it's becoming part of my routine. I'm doing mostly work out videos that I downloded or get off of netlix, 30 DS, a couple weightloss pilates videos, and another Jillian Michaels metabolism boost one which is longer and kills me. I need a new pair of sneakers; I'm wearing an old pair I have that are for trail running (I have not run in years!), but they're not great for this aerobic stuff and my right foot keeps cramping up, I think because my foot is a little wider than the base of the shoe. Maybe I'll look into getting a better pair for what I'm doing this weekend. I just don't want to spend a lot!
Yay Shuga!
This week has been a bit of a train wreck. I ended up working more extra hours than I expected so I only got in a short workout on Tuesday. I did start to redeem myself yesterday in that I worked from home and it was warm, so I walked for an hour and a half. I took the easy way out with food and have been eating too many carbs and fat and not enough lean protein and fruits and vegetables. I have also eaten a box of truffles that I got for Valentine's Day.
I need to redeem myself this weekend - work outs every day, healthier meals and fewer carbs! If I don't do better starting today, then I can't bake this weekend. So far the food has been okay - oatmeal with PB for breakfast, pita with bean and garlic spread, sun-dried tomatoes and arugula for lunch. Snacks are a fig cereal bar and an orange. Dinner is leftover pot roast but I've portioned the meat servings small and it is grass-fed beef.
I am getting back on track after a cold kicked my butt for a week. I did a workout dvd on Saturday and Tuesday and ran on Sunday and Thursday. I hope to go for another run this afternoon or I will do a dvd in the morning before we head out on our trip. Hoping to maybe run once in the hotel gym this weekend, otherwise we'll be doing lots of walking so that counts for something. We are having company next week, but should be able to fit in some morning workouts while they are here.
Eating hasn't been too bad, but Valentine's chocolates were too good to resist. This weekend I'm sure there will be some indulging, but with vacation next week and company visiting I hope to make some nice healthy, meals. Although my friend shares my love of sweets and baking, so that is dangerous! I haven't logged my food on Lose It for 2 weeks and have maintained my weight and even lost a pound, so that's good.
I just ordered 30 Day Shred after trying a free version of Level 1 On Demand...that was Wednesday and my arms are still killing me (I used 3 lb dumbells!) I wound up with $15 in Amazon gift cards, so I got it for free. So, I'm excited to really try to get into it and I like that it's so short. I love my yoga DVDs, but they are mostly around an hour long.
Eating has been eh because of a ridiculous amount of chocolate covered strawberries and truffles...but they're gone, so...moving on. We have friends in town until Monday, so I can't imagine my eating getting any better until after that...but it's a great excuse to try some new restaurants
And great job, Shuga...what an accomplishment!
FAB job Shuga and Megan!
I am going to keep this short. I have lost 10 pounds since the start of January, so the flab is slowly but surely coming off. I would like to be more disciplined with my eating, but I feel like February has just had too many social events focused around food.
Umm, hells yeah!!! You're going to be smokin' at your summer time wedding!! Shuga - you're on the fast track, too! Keep it up ladies!!
Since signing up for my first 5k (
), I ran four times this week - 3 at the gym, and one yesterday to Crescent beach and back to my house. Nice little run....the treadmill keeps me accountable for my time, mileage and even motivates me to keep up the pace. Whereas in the road, I just jog....:-) When I exercise I usually eat better because I hate wasting all the effort working out if I"m just going to eat junk.
