We plan to list our condo on march 1st and we're finishing up some projects around here. I think our bedroom needs attention bc there isn't much in the way of actual decoration (read: a lot of beige). we have bright white trim and a darker beige wall color. sheets are beige and white martha stewart pattern. furniture is black. see pic below:
I need some color and would like to add curtains. as you can see, the tall dresser covers a portion of the window...should i just do one panel on the left side? i dont want it to get any darker in there, so i'm hoping for something light. any ideas for punches of color? inexpensive art and/or accessories? (we now have a matching mirror over the long dresser).
i've thought this over so much, but i end up with nothing. thanks for your help ![]()
Re: help me decorate our bedroom
i can move the tall dresser (H will be annoyed bc we wont be able to see the TV) to the right side of the bed (beside the nightstand)...there's more room now than in the pic for that.
i actually have some old PB curtain panels that are thinner cotton so they're sorta sheer, but not really. i think i might try those if i can locate them. i thought i'd need something wiht a pattern but if i dont, i'll just use what i have.
our house is all pretty neutral...i jsut think it's boring! but, i guess thats what people want.
Definitely agree with Madame. The curtains you have sound like they would work. I really think moving the dresser and putting curtains up will help. Maybe add some wall art with a pop of color. I think something with red in it would look good. You should be able to find something inexpensive somewhere like TJMaxx.
I would definitely move the big dresser and remove the TV from the room when you put the house on the market.
I like pp's suggestion of light blue accents. Curtains would also help.
Otherwise, it looks nice - very calming. I think that's one thing people are looking for in a potential bedroom.

Thank you, this is what I was trying to articulate! It allows the buyer to imagine their own things there and their own style instead of them reacting to what you have there.
definitely window panels - I would do two, maybe patterned like with geometric shapes, something contemporary. i'm thinking purple or orange. you can get two for about $25 or so at bed bath and beyond. i would also do a large piece of artwork above the headboard. something horizontal - just pick up something at IKEA. then a throw at the bottom of the bed in a color pulled from the drapes. you can also find something inexpensive at IKEA. then you're done. minimal is better for staging.
