Creepy baby product

Let me preface by saying I completely understand the concept of swaddling. Although L didnt really like it, my niece had to be swaddled.

That being said this product just creeps me out.

The Woombie

Its a baby straight jacket...LOL

Re: Creepy baby product

  • Creepy and pricey...I'm sorry but blankets to swaddle don't cost $26 and if you are watching your child they aren't going to choke on the blanket

  • I know someone who uses one of these and swears by it.  Personally, a baby in one of these looks suspiciously like one of the old Glow Worm dolls to me:

What creeps me out about it is the "Trust the Woombie" statement that is prominently displayed on the webpage...sounds a bit mind-controllish, if you ask me!

image  <<<"Trrruuust the Woombie...the Woombie is your friend...the Woombie will not hurt you and knows what is best for you..." *shudder*

HA! The glow worm!! Hands down my favorite thing when I was little! And YES it does look like that!

"Woombie" sounds creepy and some of the babies' eyes are extremely creepy...exactly like they've been watching that show on TV! HAHAHA.

Is it bad to laugh at pictures of babies?
    If so...my bad!

  • It looks really creepy, you are right.  But I confess that I will definitely be buying something like this when I have babies.  My niece and nephew loved their "sleep sack."  (Hmm...on second thought, maybe my sisters still have theirs and I can have hand-me-downs instead.)  The benefit over a swaddling blanket is that the baby does not come unwrapped if they are squirmy.

  • I've seen photos of a baby bed like this that fold up so you can carry it on your back...

Now I'm kicking myself because I can't find a photo of it folded up, but it looks like a GIANT vagina on the woman's back that is carrying it.

...because it wasn't crazy enough that I seriously first thought it was a dog bed.  Can you imagine the poor child who is dressed in a Woombie and forced to watch his mother unfold her giant backgina and place it on the floor, where the poor dear then has to fight the dog to sleep in it?  I hope the parents have a great flexible spending plan to cover psychotherapy costs.
