training pants?

How many pairs do you think I should have with the boys?

Re: training pants?

  • The most changes I had with a child who was ready was 3 in a daycare day.

I had 1 change every couple hours with children who weren't ready.

I'm thinking get the number of diaper changes per day worth of training pants for each.

  • We used big girl underpants with rubber pants over them for the first week or so.  The rubber pants could be rinsed off and dried quickly for another use the same day.  I would say that if they are ready, then three pairs of underpants each (per day) and maybe three pairs of rubber pants each (total).

Ridley now has 12 pairs of underwear because I do not want to be doing mini underwear laundry all the time.

  • Yeah I was planning on getting the gerber underwear and I have some rubber pants already and maybe some rubberized underwear for when we are out... I hear you on not wanting to do extra laundry... it must be awesome to not have to do diapers anymore!

How is Ridley doing with potty training?? Is she pretty much there or are you still working on it?

  • We still have diaper laundry because she is still in diapers at night.  But she is in big girl underwear all day (without the rubber pants) and is pretty much there.  She has an accident here and there, mostly when she is in the middle of something fun and doesn't want to leave it to go to the potty.  I figure we will transition to underwear at night when she starts waking up dry, but that hasn't happened yet.

I feel blessed that it was so easy.  I know that she must have been ready.

  • Yeah the boys run around slamming their hands on their diapers whenever they either are wet/dirty or need to go... so I am thinking they are getting close to being ready... I am not really going to try until the summer when I can be home with them and be consistent, I just think it would be too hard with them being home with me and Josh, at my parents house, and at Josh's parents house... they have potties here and at the ILs and they sit on them and tell us when they need to go, but haven't gone on them yet... and I am not pushing it one bit!

  • Where did you find rubber pants? I haven't had luck yet (just went to wal-mart this morning).  I think I may just put Ben in underwear with an unstuffed BG or diaper cover over it so he will feel wet but have a barrier.  Ben is going potty several times a day (and almost always for #2) but still wearing diapers all the time.  I got him some Thomas underwear and he seemed excited, so hopefully that is good motivation!

I think we got them at Target, but I was pretty sure that they would have them at Wal-mart until I read this post.  They are in the aisle with the pre-packaged onesies.  They are Gerber brand.

  • I had to get them at BabiesRUs because they didn't have them at my Target and I don't go to Walmart... at BabiesRUs  in Portland they are towards the front of the store on an endcap by the baby bathtubs (which makes no sense to me because the potties are at the back of the store by the snack food)
