Wow, Olbermann just smacked down a Palin-hater.
Anyone watching Countdown right now? I just flipped it on and saw his #1 Worst Person in the Word, and it was some yahoo who hung a Palin-esque mannequin from his roof. Hung, as in by the neck. Truly creepy and inappropriate, no matter what your politics.
But I must admit I am surprised to see such a protest from Olbermann. I watched Countdown pretty solidly for a year or two, but I just couldn't stand his extremism every day. I rarely saw him call anyone out in his own party, either. Color me surprised!

I've seen him make comments about other sexist Palin things before. I'm blanking on what the context was, because there are so many of them....it was something in his Worst Person in the World segment, and he was basically bashing some particularly gross comment by one of her "supporters." It might have been National Review's Rick Lowry's comment about the "little starbursts," but I can't really remember. It was something like that.
But, that defense involved mocking a Republican, so this really is a whole new level of sane for Olberman.
Confession: every time I happen to catch the Worst Person segment, all I can think about is McCain's comments about Olberman needing a padded room at that benefit a few weeks ago and I laugh. He does get really weird during that segment. The voices freak me out.
The "little starbursts" statement was simultaneously high comedy and revolting sexism.
To me, Olbermann will always be a sports guy. I still can't watch him without half-expecting him to bust out some sports stats or a replay of last weekend's game.
a little while ago, he royally trashed the "musicians" who wrote a song about killing Bill O'Reilly...
he may be batshit crazy, but he still has a sense of decency.
