We have the worst freaking luck! (rant)

Middle of January, H's car blew a tire, so we've been using my car because that car also needed some suspension work that we couldn't afford ATM. Last night, H headed to work. It was snowing pretty good, so he was driving pretty slow (thank GOD!) and a dog runs out in the middle of the freaking highway. A DOG! Who in the bloody hell lets their dog run loose in the middle of a snowstorm!? H had to hit it, and apparently spun around quite a few times, hitting his head on the window and jerking his arm around in the process. He was able to keep it from the ditch and drive it the rest of the way to work (about 10 minutes from where this happened), but my car is built really stupid with the rad right behind the stupid does nothing bumper, so now my bumper is gone and the rad was pulled from the right place. I swear to you, every single year in Feb/March, we've ended up having to have something major happen on our car or cars! I'm sick of it! It's no freaking wonder we're having such a hard time getting ahead! I don't even know how I'm going to get to work this week!

  • Is it possible to fix it yourself? Check the junkyards for a bumper - it might not match but better than no bumper (My Dad did that for my car in HS when I got rear-ended). The radiator seems like it might be one of the things that's easy to replace (but I've never tried replacing one before, so what do I know!).

I hope your H is ok!

  • We might have to see about doing that. I just called my insurance and though it's a no fault, since I don't have comprehensive, I'd still end up paying for everything myself. H used to fix cars with his dad, so I'll ask him about it.

H is fine atm, just a bit sore and bruised. I think he bruised his shoulder muscle, which sucks because it's the shoulder he broke when he was a teen that never fully healed, so it's just hurting him that much more.

  • Glad to hear he's ok!

That so sucks about the car though...Our bad car luck seems to hit in Oct/Nov annually, so I totally get what you're going through!  Of course the snow just makes it worse...

    Sending good thoughts your way
