The Best Pizza I Ever Ate

Okay, I'm going through all the episodes so... what was the best pizza you ever ate? And not something someone made at home. It needs to be at a restaurant so we could try it, too. Describe the pizza, why it's great and where we can get it.

In the U.S.: Woodstock's in Santa Barbara (I think they're all along the central coast actually). If you like spicy, saucy pizza this is the place for you.

In Europe the best pizza I had was not in Italy, ironically, but in Annemasse, France. It's a small lakeside town near the Alps. The place is called La Stradella. Just the best European style pizza, fresh sauce, fresh crust. Yum!

Pizza My Heart in Carmel...

I can still remember grabbing a peice on our way back to a beach house my family rented with my cousins, while I was in high school. Sitting in the back of the car and trying not to drip it all over. Sooooo good!

Easy, Zachary's in Rockridge (now also in San Ramon). My fave is the deep dish spinach and mushroom. 2nd best was some hole in the wall pizza to-go place outside of Rome...it had squash blossoms on it and was super delish.

Is it bad if my answer is Pizza Hut? I really like it and frankly, we rarely eat pizza so that's probably why I haven't tried many other places.

Lol, yes that is bad. There are so many good places with fresh ingredients. Plus it's easy to find veggie pizza.

Zelda's Pizza in Sacramento, it's really unique on like a pastry crust or something...hard to explain. Plus the place is a total hole in the wall and the have cheap pitchers of cheap beer.

Hannikan...there's Woodstock's in Davis and Chico too. They delivered late when I was college in Chico...very helpful!

Interesting! I wonder why they aren't in the Bay Area. Pizza My Heart is also in San Jose and Santa Cruz (I think they're based in Santa Cruz).

Even though they're everywhere, I LOVE BJ's pizza. I also enjoy Round Table and Papa Murphy's too. I love Papa Murphy's chicken garlic pizza. But most of the time we eat DiGiorno (sp?) from the grocery store. It's still yummy=).

Hands down, Posa Posa in New York. There's also this place called Pete's that used to be amazing, but they shut down. There's no pizza like true New York pizza.

I always liked Blondies pizza in Berkeley and Concord, but when we moved to NYC there was a fabulous place downstairs that I loved called Delizias. Their white pie was amazing.

Chain: Watsonville Apple pizza at Pizza My Heart. Gorgonzola, apple slices, bacon, scallions and sausage ... what's not to love???

Restaurant: Serious Pie in Seattle. It's one of Celebrity Chef Tom Douglas' restaurants, and their yukon gold with rosemary and pecorino pizza is a religious experience.

Pizza My Heart's Manresa is my absolute fave. They have it as their Wednesday special, so whenever I can, I hit up Pizza My Heart on Wednesday! No sauce, ricotta, a little mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and basil. So good.

In SF, Pizza Orgasmica. They had one with a cheese sauce and broccoli with other veggies. Plus their restaurant in the Richmond is super cute. We've had many a party there!

Ooh, I'll have to check that place out. I had lots of pizza in N Italy and lots of pasta yum so it would take me back. My dad went to Campbell High, too, so I want to see it before we leave the area.

I like Pizza My Heart in Santa Cruz, but don't love it... Liked it more in college I think. Lanesplitter in Oakland is really good too, and I've had decent pizza at Tomatina in Walnut Creek.

And yes, Passanie, Pizza Hut is bad Big Smile
