I just heard about restaurant week from a friend. I've never participate in it, but there are some awesome yummy places participating this year so I'm wondering if anyone has gone out during it before and whether it's a set menu or what it's like and how it differs from a night night?
Re: Restaurant Week?
The set menu (and awesome prices) are the big difference.
We've been a few times and it's kind of tradition with our neighbors now. The guys are in love with Fogo de Chao, so while I'd love to try a new place each time, we alternate. Fogo, New place, Fogo, New place, etc...
This round, we'll be back at Fogo. I'd definitely recommend Cave Vin if they're participating again. We had an excellent meal there in October, I believe.

I have never participated, but Fogo De Chao is DELISH! It's our favorite place!
You should definitely go during restaurant week, then! Dinner - including salad bar, meat, sides (I believe it was potatoes and plantains last time), AND dessert - is only $30 pp.

Fogo wasn't on there when I first looked at the list, but it's been there for at least the last few days (if not week) now.

Holy crap... 900 views? thats' strange.
I did not notice Fogo originally either, but I think I may need to go check it out. We've never been, but I've always wanted to try it!

No kidding, there's no way. There must be something wonky going on with the nest.
We just mentioned it when we got there.
Although I'm pretty sure you'd get the price without mentioning, too. For more typical restaurants, their only menu for the week is their restaurant week menu (which automatically comes with the restaurant week price).

I just made a reservation at one of the restaurant's listed and the person that I made the reservation with had no idea about Restaurant Week.
Can restaurants pull themselves from this once it's posted on the website?
Do you bring a printout or anything with you from the website to confirm your special pricing?
Never participated before but it really is a great price per person!
My girlfriends and I have restaurant Week outing every time - they do it 3 times a year. We always try a different place, and have always been happy. In 2010, the three places we went were Cafe Vin, Oceanaire, and Cafe Lurcat. All were wonderful. Cafe Vin and Cafe Lurcat were new for me, and I've been to Oceanaire many times but it's always one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with Oceanaire, even if there are people who don't like fish in your group as they have lots of other non-seafood choices.
Next week the girls and I are going to Meritage. Andy and I are also going to Ruth's Chris next week, so I'll get 2 restaurant week meals!
Fogo would not be on our list, being that 3 of the 6 of us in our girls' group either don't eat meat at all or have restrictions on meat. I know a lot of people like it, but it's just not the best choice for us, from what we understand it's very meat heavy.
Some places (Cafe Vin was one of these) only offer the restaurant week menu. Some offer their regular menu in addition. If they don't give you a restaurant week menu, just ask for it.

I just got home from Fogo for birthday lunch. True story. delish.
Their Key Lime Pie is my favorite dessert ever.
I'm glad they're participating. I want everyone to love fogo.
I have a Groupon for the Longfellow Grill, do you think I could use that during restaurant week?
Thanks for the link. DH loves Ruth's Chris, so we might have to go there.
Reservations this afternoon were getting limited doe several of the places including Fogo. I'd make the reservations soon!
Yeah, we wanted to go March 4, but the only available time was 10:30p so we decided to go to Cafe Lurcat instead. Hopefully we can go to Fogo next time.
I made phone reservations for Fogo last week when we saw it was participating in Restaurant Week. I asked if I needed to bring anything and they said no, that $30 pp was the price for the entire week and she also noted it included a dessert. I've never gone out for Restaurant Week before -- so I'm excited! (Plus, I haven't had Fogo in a couple of years... which makes it even better!)
