Headaches

Seriously I was fine yesterday and the darn thing is back today. Its a really weird headache that starts out with me seeing spots and my vision getting blurry. The last one I had for 3 days and it was awful.  I never had an issue with headaches until I got pregnant with L and not that I say that the ones I have been having this week remind me of when my blood pressure spiked. Fan-freaking-tastic.

Anyone have any experience with migraines or headaches? What works for you? And I know getting off the computer is one of them..lol

Re: Headaches

  • I wish I could find the old thread that dealt with migraines. We should sticky-note that b!tch.

But really the ONLY thing that works for me is to "pull the trigger" take some advil cold and sinus and nap for an hour.

I wish I could do that now, as I feel like crap too. The weather changing on a daily basis doesn't help. I usually get sick this time of year because of it.

  • I have a prescription for Imitrex which is what I take for bad migraines. It works for me about 90% of the time but I usually still have to curl up in a dark room and try to sleep it off as well. I have a gel face mask that I keep in the refrigerator and use, but heat can work okay too. Try heating a washcloth and laying with that in a dark room or if you have an unscented rice or bean heat bag (or sock filled with uncooked rice) you can try heating that up. I say unscented, because if it has any so-called relaxation oil/fragrances it can hinder rather that help. Many migraines have a scent trigger; at least mine do. Drink lots of water too. Feel better. Migraines suck.

  • I also wanted to add that you should probably see a doctor, since these seem so persistent.

  • I agree with Allie, seeing a Dr. to rule out something serious is important. I use excederine migraine, but I HAVE to get it right as I feel it coming on. If there's auras or anything developing it's too late.
  • Montana,

I suffer from migraines so I feel your pain.  I have been to the doctor on numerous occasions.  I get so sick and dizzy from them where I can't even function properly.  I have some sort of medication for it but I try not to take it if I can help it because it, too, makes me sick.  It is a vicious cycle.
