My photographer...ugh. Where to begin? He is a very sweet man and I loved his work; that's one of the reasons why we chose him. Not only that, but his prices were very reasonable. We paid $3000 for our package, which included 12 hours on the wedding day, the rehearsal, an engagement OR a bridal session, a leather bound table album, two leather bound parents' albums, a certain amount in print credits, and ALL of the pictures on a CD with the rights in my name. Awesome, I thought.
Fast forward to our rehearsal. Up until that point, he was a dream. Easy going, always a phone call away if any last minute changes were made. The rehearsal was at our venue on a Saturday morning at 9am (early, because there was another wedding there later that day and we had to be out by noon.) When we arrived, the photographer was no where to be found. I tried calling his cell and house phones multiple times...no answer. I was livid. We completed the rehearsal; he never showed.
The next day was the wedding and after all of my appointments, I arrived and (thank goodness) he's there. He apologized profusely for missing the day before. He explained that he had a wedding in Birmingham (about two hours away from here) on Friday night and didn't get home until about 4am on Saturday morning. He overslept and never heard his phone ringing...he also said he would give us more towards print credits to make up for it. If only I would have gotten that in writing!
The wedding went off without a hitch. He was there all day like he said he would be and got some great shots although I feel like they weren't what his work usually is. After that day, it was hell getting in touch with him. I left numerous messages and emails for him a few weeks later, but it wasn't until March 2009 that I recieved the CD including all of the pictures. I was pretty busy with school at the time, so it took us until July 2009 to make the choice of which pictures to include in the albums. He emailed me back about a month later saying that he would begin working on them.
Months went by and I hadn't heard anything. I was growing really impatient and really irritated. Eventually I filed a complaint with the BBB. He was given a date and time that he had to respond to me by before legal actions were taken. He emailed me back literally one minute after the deadline ended. He said he'd been overwhelmed with other weddings and that he was slowly putting our albums together.
In June 2010, I emailed him to let him know that we had bought a house and that he could send the albums to our new address. He responded a week later saying that they were "at the printers and should be back within a week". It's now February 2011 and I still don't have them!! So I call and email him numerous times...no response. Rusty calls/emails him. Same thing. My MOTHER emails him ONCE and is very civil about it...she said everything that I had said except she included the words "I assume I need to contact my attorney if no contact is made" Voila! 10 hours later an email is recieved and he said that as of last month, he is completely done with weddings. He said he was way too overwhelmed and that it just wasn't for him. He said that he's taking the rest of this year to catch up and give all of the brides what he owes them. He also said that he "ordered the albums and that they should be in next week" (I thought he did that last June???)
My mother, Rusty, and I are going to where he lives to pick them up next week. It's been such a long, frustrating experience. Not quite sure how I'm going to handle the print credit thing yet, though...we never could contact him to figure out how that works or what pictures to use. Wish me luck!! haha
WHOA! Sorry that was so long!!!! I'm just very relieved haha

Wow what an ordeal. I would have taken legal actions long ago but atleast you got your pictures.
As far as the other prints go I think you are soar out of luck. Maybe you can get him to take newborn pics or family pics when the time comes but this time get it in writing.
I can't believe you paid that much and got such an unprofessional photographer.
Good luck next week.

That's really too bad he doesn't have his act together and it's taken this long to finalize everything. I feel your pain, I've been waiting on a 20x24 pic for over 8 months now from my photographer who has fell off the face of the planet. He charged us for a glass album cover he didn't provide, so the picture was a substitute. I did take a few months between a family emergency and buying our home to select a picture, but that was like last June. I've been beside myself as I have no idea what could be going on on his end--I think I'll follow your mom's lead and hope for the best. I just want my picture!
I hope everything works out and you can be done with this guy, good luck!
