My horrific trip to the grocery store.

Today the baby and I went grocery shopping in Corpus, which is about an hour away from our house.  Anyway, everything was going well until it came time to check out.  The grocery store that I shop at has the tightest check out lines ever.  The cart barely fits through the lane.  Meaning, the candy is in arms reach of the baby so I have to hold her while I pay to minimize the mess.  It's usually not a big deal because I quickly pay with my debit card but today, of course, I forgot my debit card at home and I had to write a check while I manage to hold a squirmy one year old.  I tried to keep her hands off the food bank display (the one where you buy a slip of paper to make a donation for $1, $3, or $5) but I failed and she knocked it down and the papers flew everywhere.  Ugh.  I managed to pick them up and quickly tried to get out of the sore.

Then all of the sudden I got this sensation that I needed to go to the rest room.  Like now.  And then it dawned on me I didn't have any tampons and I really, really needed one.  Like badly.  I didn't even think I could make it out to my car to unload the groceries and look for a tampon.  Plus I didn't want to ruin my new jeans if you KWIM.  Ugh.  So I found the manager and asked him to watch my cart while I ran to the bathroom.  Luckily I found a lady on the way who had a tampon to spare.  I get in the bathroom and I go to put the baby down so I can do my business and I discover she lost one of her shoes in the store.  Eff!  I can't put her down barefooted in the public restroom.  Some how I managed to do my business WHILE holding the baby.  I am not really sure how, but I did.

I thought my troubles were behind me but as I was leaving I grabbed my purse off the back of the door and it didn't come completely off the hook and I dumped my purse all over the floor.  In a public restroom.  And the cap of Diet Coke I just bought busted on the floor and soda sprayed every where.  All over my stuff.  Remember, the baby lost her shoe so I couldn't put her down and I had to clean everything up with the baby in my arms.  Again.

OMG, I wanted to cry.  I am extra hormonal since I started my period today and I felt like those were the 5 unluckiest minutes of my life!

Yes!  It was the same grocery store!  I hate going to there, it is like a zoo.  Always packed full of people, even on a Monday morning.  It's the largest grocery store I have ever been in.  But they sell EVERYTHING and ANYTHING so it's worth the hour drive.  I mostly go there so I don't have to buy our meat at Walmart.  But holy helll, there are some weirdos that hang out there!  I still feel a little creeped out when I go there (and I never wear dresses).

  • Wow, that is pretty craptacular.  At least you'll have a great story to tell one day.  I do hope your day gets better!
  • Oh my, that is a horrific trip to the store! I hope your day gets much, much better!

  • Oh no! I'm sorry you had such a rough time at the store.
  • Wow, that's insane.

P.S. Did you find Macy's shoe?

Haha.  No, it's lost somewhere in the store!  At that point I was so ready to get home I said eff it.  They weren't overly expensive shoes, thankfully!

Oh, wow.  I have no children, but I can just imagine the whole ordeal.  Wish I could have been there to at least help hold your little darling or something!  Here's hoping that was the extent of your drama for the week!

  • I hope the rest of your day got better. I can only imagine everything that was going through your mine.
  • Oh my goodness, you poor thing! What a horrible outing! I totally would have cried - I always cry if I get super frustrated. If I were you I would be sitting my happy self in a bubble bath right now and a glass of wine. You totally earned it!

  • AHHH! That sounds amazingly awful!
  • I think the moral of this story is that you made it through. Diet Coke covered and with a shoeless baby, but all things considered, I'd say that's dayum good.
