post pregnancy ?

TMI warning.  Ever since I had Adrian, I seriously can't jump without peeing.  DH just got a jump rope and I was jamming out during Adrian's nap (it's amazing what a good workout you can get in in a short amount of time with a jumprope) and it's just plain annoying that I have to change right after.  If I do more kegals will this get better?  Or will I be confined to jump only at home from this point further?  (Not that I really get the urge to jump places other than home anyway...but just wondering.)

Re: post pregnancy ?

  • Abby is 15 months old and I have to wear a heavy maxi pad while I'm running.  I'm trying to do more kegals, but I haven't had much luck.  :-/

  • I still have stress incontinence sometimes when I sneeze or during sex.  :(

I talked to my doctor about it.  If it's a mild case, kegels can work.  You can also try physical therapy (apparently there is some woman in southern ME who specializes in this type of PT).  For moderate to severe cases, the only way to fix it is with surgery to tighten the pelvic floor muscle, but you have to be done having children before they can do that.

  • I worked with a woman who had had 3 children, the youngest is now a senior. She has to cross her legs when she laughs hard or sneezes and carries a spare pair in her purse. We were a very open group of women :)
