Who's read The Hunger Games?

As Mrs.Wall mentioned in her post, this book is GOOD! The ladies on the nest book club site have been raving about it forever. Anyone else read it? Want to discuss? My 13-year-old nephew read it and loved it and it's been passed all around the family. Now I've got Catching Fire on hold at the library, but I can't get there til Wednesday to pick it up!

And I hear it's being made into a movie. I swear, there's so much good young adult fiction out there right now (just read "Shiver" and "Linger" and they were excellent!)

My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

Re: Who's read The Hunger Games?

  • ME!  I LOVE these books!

I've been into a lot of YA books since I found the Nest book board.  I too have read Shiver and Linger.  I think Forever is coming out in July?

I will say that Anna and the French Kiss is another everyone was recommending.  I read it and LOVED it!

  • ME ME ME!!! LOVE!!!

I too started reading so much YA Fiction from going to the Nest Book Board. lol. :) I don't know how I feel about making this one into a movie....the books are so violent, I have no idea how they'd manage anything below a R rating and still be true to the books.

  • I loved the series too! I always have difficulty explaining it to other people though. I don't do the books justice.

I think those ladies recommend a lot of great books, especially YA, which isn't something I'd pick up on my own. The only thing I haven't loved that a lot of people do is Will Grayson, Will Grayson.

I am on the waitlist for Anna and the French Kiss.

Me too. I was number 23. Now I'm no. 7.

  • I'm in the 40's and I think there are only 7 copies in my county. I think it will be a long wait. :(
  • Read. Loved. I am so afraid to look at the movie casting, though, because someone already brought up who would be the perfect Katniss, and now I can't get her out of my mind! (The girl from "True Grit." With Elle Fanning for Primrose.)

I too have found that my favorite books lately have been YA fiction! I was wondering if the quality of YA has gone up, or the quality of adult literature has gone done ... or if I just don't want to think as much about what I'm reading as I grow older!

  • I've read the series and really enjoyed it.

I was getting a pedicure yesterday and reading the People magazine they had.  In the book section, it had a few stars and what they just finished reading.  Samuel L. Jackson just finished Hunger Games and said he loved it.  I don't know why, but the thought of him reading Hunger Games totally made me laugh.

  • I loved those books as well. My DS is also working his way through, and he got me started on them. I think I have circulated them through quite a few people who all have gotten hooked.
  • lol I feel special that you noticed. I have Catching Fire on request from the library. I should get it pretty soon because it's in transit. Yay!
