Anyone own a french press?

Our coffee maker just broke.

I'm researching new makers.  I'm considering a french press.  Anyone own or have reviews or thoughts on this over a traditional pot?

Re: Anyone own a french press?

  • I used to have just a generic one I bought at TJ Maxx.. I forget the brand.

I will say this: The coffee was very very good! It was very fresh.

It's good if you just want a cup here and there; and don't want to brew a whole pot. However, for guests, etc, I would still have a regular pot. That is just me though.

  • I had a bodum, and I loved it, but sadly I gave it up to my parents, so now they have it.  But like Jackie said, it's great if you just want to make a cup for yourself.

  • I picked up a $10 press at Marshalls while we were waiting for our replacement coffee maker to arrive after ours broke. I love pressed coffee; it just doesn't make very much at one time.
