Do I really have to chart and all that? Can't we just do the deed a little more than usual?
I'm so naive about all of this, but I really don't want it to turn into a production.
Enlighten me about TTC.
Re: My TTC question.
oooooh are you gonna have babies??? exciting:) i think when we eventually try we would at least take a few months to just have lots of sex and see what happens before taking it more seriously...
but coming from someone at least a year away from ttc, maybe there are better people to give advice...
Nope, no need to chart
I gave it a few months humping it out without charting, ovulation predictor kits, and timing sex but it didn't work
After a few frustrating months I decided to get more serious about it and monitor things to give me so peace of mind.
But yeah, I would have loved never to know about this stuff!
And I am soooooooooooo excited you are thinking about taking the plunge! Babies are the best and you won't regret your decision!

Definitely! But here's the thing: You do the deed a little more than usual and then let's say you don't get pregnant from it. And then you keep on with this same pattern for 1 or 2 more months and still you're not KU. Once you've gone a few months with nothing happening, I almost guarantee that you'll become a tiny bit obsessed with TTC and you'll start wanting to time things perfectly and you'll want to know exactly when you're ovulating and all that. And that may lead to you wanting to temp/chart/etc. IMO, it's inevitable with any woman who starts trying-- once it doesn't happen right away, she wants to start doing all she can to force it to happen
Just have fun for a few months! Don't make it stressful until you need to take further steps!

I didn't chart. I did use ovulation kits, and did the "have sex every other day" routine.
Charting seems so overwhelming. I would just try w/o charting first.
Just do it like every day for about 10 days right smack dab in the middle of your cycle. (if you have regular cycles that is.)
Or, just have a few too many glasses of wine on occasion and see what pans out, lol.
I charted with the first. I talked to DH and said that when we are ready to try for #2 we are just going to go at it and if in a few months we aren't pregnant then I would go back to charting.
This is what I did and got pg on the second try, im contemplating charting for this next cycle but we'll see!
My period is pretty regular every month, but silly question.... when you say "smack dab in the middle of your cycle" how do I compute my cycle?

Thanks for the responses. We are not TTC right this second, but maybe in the summer.
When is a woman's most fertile time?

There is a school of thought that your most fertile day of a 28 day cycle is day 14. There are ovulation predictor calendars that will give you an "estimate" of when you are fertile. But they are just that, an estimate and not exact. Each person is different. The estimate may be right for you, but it certainly could be wrong too! Check it out......

If your cycle is around 28 days, day 1 is the day your period begins. Your fertile time is when you ovulate. Typically this is in the middle of your cycle, so say day 10-18. This when you want to go at like monkeys
But as others have said, everyone's cycle is different and no everyone ovulates right in the middle of their cycle, so it can be a guessing game unless you chart, check CM, use OPKs, or other tools.
Just try to have fun with it!
Yeah, if I were just starting out TTC I wouldn't pay any attention to this stuff! I only picked it up after being unsuccessful for a few months and getting frustrated.
But also know, that the statistics show that it can take up to 1 year for a healthy couple to conceive, even with perfect timing. So if it doesn't happen right away, don't worry!
BTW, are you on BC pills? Sometimes people have issues adjusting their bodies off of the pills which can delay getting pregnant. But that is not always the case. There are plenty of people who get pregnant their first month off the pill too!

I've actually never been on the pill, so I'm good in that department.

Thanks for posting this question. DH and I are planning to start TTC in Summer or Fall of this year and I was thinking that I would have to chart since all the ladies seem to do it then it must be the right thing to do.
It sounds like it totally takes the fun out of it. I'm glad I asked too. Let's just got at it and have fun! Ye-haw.
