Has anyone use Maderma (sp?)?

If you have used it, how do you think it worked? Is it worth it (I think I heard its a little pricey)?

I'm really bothered by my scars from my gall bladder. Espcially after I just so scars on a pt who had the same surgery 2 weeks after mine and they are barely noticable. Mine looks like an engry red centipied gowing across my stomach. I mean no one sees it but me and DH. Not that he would ever say anything but I think it freaks him out a little too. Huh?

Re: Has anyone use Maderma (sp?)?

  • I used Mederma for a little while before the wedding for a scar on my arm. It wasn't a huge or super dark scar but it was noticible enough to me. Anyway it seemed to work well enough. And now you can't tell there was anything there. I would give it a shot if I were you. Hardest part for me was being consistent with applying it. Target sells a generic brand as well and when I bought a second tube I bought that instead of the actual Mederma.
  • I used it on a ugly red scar on my leg from having a little lump removed. It worked ok but like Nola said, the hardest part was using it as much as directed. It probably would have worked better had I used it like the directions say. I might try it again this summer though.

  • How often do you have to apply it?

  • honestly, the scars that i have that have healed the best are the ones that i've done nothing to...except vasoline and a bandaid while healing.

i have moles removed basically now every 3 months (not just scraped off...they're coming back severely abnormal so i have to go in for actual removal with margins involving about a couple inch scar). for those, while the stiches were in i keep them covered...and also for a few days after the stiches come out. then, i dont' do much. my c-section scar looks pretty good (for what it is) but it does take time. a month out of surgery it still was scary looking.

i have a horrid scar on my arm from a mole removal that didn't heal properly. it looks like the skin spread...it's the only one i've had this happen to. my derm (a new one) has told me there's no amount of scar cream that will help it...it needs re-done.

i would just try to keep it moist wth vasoline on a daily basis...maybe before bed. thats what worked for me.

    good luck :)
