So the IL's are coming again...

They will be here March 16 through April 3. That's 3 weeks, but DH assures me they will be traveling for at least one week of that time. I don't care how long they stay in the U.S. as long as long as they are at our house for 2 weeks max!

I'm pretty sure this trip will be much better than their last one here. Now that we've spent a lot more time together in Colombia, things shouldn't be so tense. Also, I'll be out of the house for at least half of the days for work, so it won't be like I'm trapped with them 24/7 this time.

LOL, poor Hayley! At least she doesn't interfere with your life too much. I have the opposite problem, MIL is a very sweet, sensitive, affectionate, "girly-girl" woman who wants to be surrounded by her family allthetimecontstantly. And I'm not...really any of those. Is it super bitchy to say I wish she didn't like me quite so much? Stick out tongue

  • May the Force be with you (or something like that). Let us know if you need a GTG to get away for a bit. I would move to a hotel if my MIL was at my house for more than an hour.

i never get tired of the awesomeness of this photo...
  • Good luck! I'm about to spend a week traveling with mine and that will be my limit! I don't know how you do it!
  • (1) OMG Haley!!

    (2) This is what happens when we have/marry people with family out of the country. When H's family tries to visit from Turkey I demand to airline tickets and lay down the law in regards to a timeframe. Does your MIL cook very well? H's Turkish Aunt is sweet and amazing cook, so she could move in with me for months if she wanted. Embarrassed

His brother (through DH on the phone) and I did get into it a little bit on this and I did come out looking like an unwelcoming biotch, but seriously, you can't railroad me once I'm wise to your tricks!

MIL is a good cook, but not great. At home, either her housekeeper or BIL does the cooking. When they are here, I split dinner cooking responsibilities with him. His cooking is very bland and/or deep fried. DH and MIL seem to like it, and it doesn't make me barf, but I don't like it. For BIL and MIL (and to a lesser DH), my cooking is a little too rich and "spicy" (because I sparsely used black pepper sometimes). At least when we alternate the cooking, everyone gets something they like half the time.

  • You are a much better person than I!  I would foot the bill for a hotel room for them.  I hate having people in my house for more than a couple hours.  I just can't feel comfortable with random people roaming around!
