Raleigh area Ladies - Dresses

Hey ladies!

Sooo DH just told me to go find a dress. .. nothing fancy, but not like your typical warm sun dress, but nothing over the top either. Just a nice dress to wear out to dinner for our anniversary (I have no idea where we're going to eat, but he's wearing his suit). It'd also be cool if I could wear it to church two (two birds, one stone)

So my question is. . do you ladies have any recommendations for dress shops that aren't too pricey (would loveee to stay around $50, but If I really like it, I can go for more) Im also 'bigger' 16-18 range depending on the cut.

I know about the general stores, like mall shops, but was curious to see if there were any local shops that you would recommend?

TIA!! :) I get to go shopping on Friday! Woo!

  • lane bryant has some cute ones and a couple on the clearance rack that are cute
  • If you have patience, hit up the Belk sales rack.  I like the Crabtree Belk the best.  Nordstrom has cute stuff, too. You can find less expensive prices online than in the store though (sale stuff).
  • Definitely try Belk. They usually have good sales and I just bought my last dress from there. Cary Towne is my fav (I get overwhelmed at Crabtree... although their selection is probably bigger). Sometimes you can get lucky at the Belk in Garner too.

Ditto the Belk suggestion and the Nordstrom/Nordstrom online suggestion.  If there's a Dillards, it might be worth it to check their sales racks as well.  I've gotten almost all my fancy dresses from Nordstrom online, and they have bigger sizes too.

Good luck!  Sounds like your DH is very sweet and romantic!!

  • Thanks ladies! We're def going to either cary towne center or crabtree, so we'll check out those stores :)

I've seen the sales online and so wish I had time to order online, but we're going out this Saturday. .little pushed for time LOL.

     Again ,thanks! :)

  • You could try a consignment store.  I don't know of any offhand in Raleigh area, but I know my friend's consignment store in Greensboro gets dresses from stores that are closing down, so they're brand new - she just got in 550 dresses from a store that closed down two weeks ago.  Might want to just do some calling around to see what consignment stores have before going on the hunt. Smile
  • There's also the Nordstrom Rack at Southpoint.
  • I just got an email that Ann Taylor Loft is having a sale on dresses this weekend... 25% off.

What's the name of the store?!

  • Just wanted to say thank you for all of the suggestions! :) I actually ended up finding the dress I wore at Ross. I randomly popped in there and found a really cute one for a great price (30).

     Anyways, Thank you :)

Sorry I haven't been on to reply - Songbirds, its on Lawndale across from the Target in a little shopping plaza just past the bank (if your headed away from UNCG area).  Her name is Katy, she's almost always there somewhere.  All the dresses are in the back of the store!  All the women who work there are really nice and will help you out tremendously!
