So, my FIL and his girlfriend recently told Ivan and I that they are getting married. They have been together for 15 years and met soon after Ivan's parents got divorced. When MIL got sick with cancer, this girlfriend was in the picture the entire time, being supportive and understanding of Ivan's father and how he would be at her apartment all the time helping her, driving her to doctor's appointments, etc. Now that MIL passed away over a year ago, FIL feels that it is finally the right time to marry his GF and just be happy. Ivan isn't quite sure what to make of it. He never thought they would actually go through the motions and get married at this point, but they bought a house and are living together so I guess it makes sense. We are happy for them.
So they are getting married Friday, March 4! They are just going to go to City Hall in Manhattan and have a nice dinner out in NYC afterwards. Ivan and I are taking the day off of work on Friday to be there for the ceremony and dinner and will spend the rest of the weekend out there.
I don't have a clue what to wear. I guess a dress but I don't want to look TOO formal either. Anyone have any suggestions or want to help me shop for something new?

I love all of these dresses from Nordstrom:
Too formal?

Had a dream I was queen.
Woke up. Still queen.
awww...I think that is kinda a sweet story. Minus the cancer part of course.
I think just a nice demure cocktail dress would work. Don't dress too sexy. It's still her wedding day and you don't want to take the focus off of her.
