Cake QOTD

Did you save the top tier of your wedding cake?

We weren't able to because we would have had to fly across North America with it. We ate it with my parents when we opened our gifts after our HM.

What kind of cake did you have?

Red velvet with white chocolate frosting.

Will you eat your saved wedding cake on your anniversary?

I am thinking of having a small cake made for us that looks like our wedding cake. I may just skimp and get a red velvet cupcake instead, just depends on how much a cake re-creation would be. We had cupcakes too with our cake so it doesn't matter either way.

Re: Cake QOTD

  • Did you save the top tier of your wedding cake?

Since our cake baker was a friend of my mom, she made us a separate tier of our wedding cake just to be frozen.

What kind of cake did you have?

Red velvet with an Oreo filling and buttercream frosting.  I normally dislike cake but our wedding cake was AMAZING!

Will you eat your saved wedding cake on your anniversary?

Since we'll be back in Pennsylvania now (since that is where we're flying out from for our anniversary trip) we'll probably have it the Friday before.  It is funny because the cake is in my grandmother's freezer and when she lost power last fall, all she was concerned about was our wedding cake going bad!  Not going to lie, I would have been pretty upset if it had gone bad since I'm looking forward to it... I just hope it still tastes good!

And here is an obligatory picture of our cake...

    And on the dessert plate...

  • I made the top of our cake. We ate it at our wedding. :)  We have a small freezer and had no desire to save the cake.  We will go out to dinner to the restaurant that did the catering and order their chocolate cake, which is what we served the guests.

  • Ours was made by DH's grandmother. It was pound cake with some type of home made icing. We did freeze it, and will have some for our anniversary. I'm not sure if we'll do it before we go to Disney, or if we will take it with us.

Either way we will likely have something else at dessert that night. If we take it we will just have some sometime that day.

  • Did you save the top tier of your wedding cake?

We did.  It is currently in my mom's freezer, but I'm going home this weekend and I will bring it back with me.

What kind of cake did you have?

Alternating layers of vanilla cake and italian creme cake with a buttercreme frosting topped with marshmallow fondant.  The groom's cake was chocolate with a whipped icing and marshmallow fondant.

Will you eat your saved wedding cake on your anniversary?

We will definitely eat a bite!  We don't know how good it will be, but we are gonna try! :-)   I think I'll get a little bitty cake from a local bakery that does what they call 5 bite cakes (they are like jumbo muffin tin size) so we can have a little sweet celebration.  Don't know what our other plans will be for the anniversary, but we will have a sweet!

  • Did you save the top tier of your wedding cake?

Yes, it is currently in our chest freezer, taking up a ton of room, so I am more than ready for anniversary to roll around so we can free up some space in there

What kind of cake did you have?

Amaretto with chocolate mousse filling was in the layer that we froze, we had 4 different flavors of cake: marble, yellow with strawberry filling, amaretto with choc. mousse, and white.....all of the flavors were so good, we couldn't pick, and there was no extra charge for different flavors.

Will you eat your saved wedding cake on your anniversary?

Yes, hopefully it will still be good!

  • Did you save the top tier of your wedding cake?

Yep, we have the actual top tier along with a honeymoon cake that the baker makes for each wedding cake.

What kind of cake did you have?

Each tier was a different flavor. The top tier was angel food cake with raspberry filling, middle was chocolate with cream cheese and the bottom was angel food with strawberry.

Will you eat your saved wedding cake on your anniversary?

Yep. My mom warned me it was pretty disgusting but we will attempt it.

  • we had lots of cakes..

we saved part of one and intend on eating it on our anniversary as well as drinking a bottle of champagne we saved.
