Tampa area Nesties - Bern's or Capital Grille?
Which one do you like better? I know Capital Grille is a chain, but not one we have in our area. Bern's Steakhouse has a few negative reviews recently on tripadvisor, so now I am not sure which one would be best.
TIA!
Re: Tampa area Nesties - Bern's or Capital Grille?
I think I'm the only one who feels this way but I really don't love Bern's food. The steaks are just meh... Although I like really flavorful food and I feel they want you to taste the meat... lol.
If thats the type of steak you like then Berns it is... They have amazing Caesar salad! DH and I will sometimes go just for salad and dessert
The dessert room is ammmmaaaazzing!
Lobster mac and cheese at Capital is really yummy!
Berns, definately. The dessert room is amazing. If I get steak I have the chatreaubriand with the pinot noir reduction, but the last few times I have had fish because I want my splurge to be the wine and the desert room. oh and the lobster bisque...oh god!!! (that is extra though, while the french onion comes with the dinner, so only order one bisque and share it, and keep a complimentary french onion, because that is very good also. Each dinner also comes with the garden vegetable salad and a baked potato)
Capital Grill if you are doing lunch. Say hi to Amy the bartender. And get the lobster salad, it is delish. H loves the burger. They are only on the lunch menu (although if you asked nicely they would probably make it for you, but that's more lunchy anyway, right?) For dinner the al la carte menu gets pricey. IMO, I compare Capital to Flemings, and I prefer Flemings of the two.
Sounds like Bern's may be the winner. I wanted to try the dessert room anyway and since we would be going on a Saturday night, I imagine our best bet at getting into the dessert room is to have reservations for dinner. We are total foodies and the experience sounds awesome.
I imagine the dress code may be a bit more than jeans? How are people dressed there?
Thanks!
Never been to Bern's, but we just had dinner at Capital Grille on V-day (everywere was packed, it was more money than we wanted to spend originally, but it was also a last minute decision to go out, just got in teh car w/ no plan) They got us seated w/in 10 or so mins and the food was great I loved it so much. It was $$$ but we thought it was worth it.
From what I hear about berns is that it's more of a fancy get up, so if you looking for fancy pants and an experience then bern's would be a place to go. but I would suggest eating at Capital Grille one day
No dress code at Cap, we saw ppl super dressed to ppl that were in shorts,

I SO AGREE! And they are very snotty there. I'm a hotel concierge and managed to have a pull on most restaurants in the area but not Bern's no one can get through them, they think they are all that. On busy nights all they have is 5:30 or 10:30pm seating which is not always true but they say it anyway. Its more of an experience people look forward to at Bern's but the meat is no better than other steak houses.
Interesting. Well, we are more about how the food tastes than the experience of a kitchen tour or going to a seperate room for dessert. Should I be looking at other restaurants besides those two? As a hotel concierge, where do you send people? We are staying one night in Tampa and then moving on to Clearwater Beach, so we will only be eating dinner one night in Tampa.
