What was it, why was it great and where can we get it?

Mine: The Alpine Burger (mushroom, onion and Swiss) at Barney's in Berkeley/Oakland http://www.barneyshamburgers.com/

I love mushroom burgers in general but this one is the best. All the burgers there are great because they use fresh, good ingredients and have good flavor. Another I like is the Caribbean burger. They also have good fries and salads.

Da Kitchen Cafe in Maui, HI.

They made this amazing garden burger with a slab of tofu and cheese and an amazing sauce. It was heavenly.

I'm going to second Stef with the cheese skirt deliciousness, but also the Townhouse Burger from The Townhouse in Sherman Oaks. Mmm. Goat cheese.

Ah, I always wondered if that cheese flap/crust had a name! It's good stuff but I was always sort of embarrassed that I liked it and had no idea anyone was marketing it! If I'm ever in the area I'll have to try that!

Eureka Burger. I had the beet pattie (no, not beef, beet. I hate beets but this was fabulous. It was even slightly red) in a Fresno Fig burger with fig marmalade, melted goat cheese, garnished with minced tomato, onion and arugula dolloped in a spicy
porter mustard. OMFG, so good! Their fries were excellent too. I think they have a few other locations, but I'm not sure where.

Jack's Prime in San Mateo. They had a Napa burger with brie and cabernet caramelized onions. Their sweet potato fries are delish as well.

Also LOVE the burgers at Slider Bar in Palo Alto. They are all so yummy! Especially the mediteranean lamb burger.

I feel lame saying this but my favorite is the Banzai burger at Red Robin in Redding (it's a franchise though so they're all over the place.) I have a hard time ordering anything else there, good thing I don't go there often!

Red Robin does have good burgers. I fell for the mushroom burger there.

This seems like a really unfair question to me since I think my own burgers are the best ones I ever ate. Lots are good, but mine are still the best.
