Is this unreasonable?

As long as my Dr. ok's it, I will be traveling to Boston in April for a meeting.  I will be about 30 weeks by then. Since I am not paying for my flight, I am thinking of taking a few days, renting a car and driving up to ME to visit my family.

Most of them are in Bangor but I really want to go see my mom in the County.  Normally about 7 hrs from Boston but likely 8ish with my 17 pee breaks.  Do you think its unreasonable for me to make this trip at 30/31 weeks?

Re: Is this unreasonable?

  • I think that is totally fine - I was told at my 36 week appt that from that point forward I should try and stay within 30-45 mins on the hospital I was delivering at. So I think at 30 weeks you should be fine.

  • I would have done it.

  • As long as you think you'll be comfortable in the car that long, 30 is still plenty of time to go.  I believe I traveled via train to NJ sometime around 6-7 months and it was fine. I had to rely on others to help with my luggage, but the sitting didn't bother me.  Of course, it helped that I wasn't behind the wheel and could nap or just literally put my feet up.  But still, you should be medically fine.

  • You should be fine; I was pretty comfortable still at that point.

  • I would go for it. It was at the 37 or so mark that I decided to stick close to home.
  • Yep, totally reasonable. I would have done it in a heartbeat. I went hiking in NH 4 hours from the closest hospital 2 days before my due date. I was fine :) Crazy, but fine :)

  • You might want to budget a bit more time :-)  but otherwise should be fine!  Have a fun trip!
