Anyone else have this problem?
When I'm sad or frustrated, I just eat and eat and eat. And it's not healthy food, it' crap. I somehow managed not to be terrible last year when I was excessed because I had the wedding to plan for and to be in shape for, but this year, I don't have the time to work out like I did last year (thankfully, that changes in about a month!), but I can't stop eating. My clothes fit the same, but I can see my face getting heavier and I'm not happy about it. At the same time, though, I continue to make HORRIBLE food choices because I'm stressed out and sad and well aware that I can't do anything to change my current situation.
Anyone else have this problem? How do you combat it?

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Re: Depression eating?
Yep. I do. Sorry to hear you're struggling with it, too. I try to make the crap as unavailable as possible. I keep gum with me all the time. Some days that I do eat and eat and eat, I will grab something that I know is healthy, won't kill my arteries/belly and eat it til I'm bored with it. Usually something like baby carrots. One can only eat so many carrots before they start tasting bad and your mouth gets tired of crunching them. Another idea is water. I will literally fill up a glass of water and force myself to drink it without stopping. Water makes you feel very full, and it's good for you!
I hope that helps a little
GL!
my read shelf:
I am guilty of eating crap when it's around. Today, there were cupcakes at the office and I ate 2. Gross. I'm really bad with stuff you can eat with your fingers like cookies and chips.
At home, I just don't keep the crap around. I'll never go out and get something to stress eat, but I'll eat it if it's around. I also bring a water bottle with me and try to drink 2 a day.
DH and I have adopted what we call "salad week" if we're both feeling like we're overeating or making poor food choices. We literally have salad for dinner every night of the week. We vary toppings and occasionally top them with chicken or beans. I usually look forward to my dinner and it's always easy to make!
I stress eat! My job is so stressful- I am in an inner city high school and the students are tough to work with!
I have been more careful with eating since Christmas and exercising more- I am in week 2 of P90X (I finally got really serious) but I am still packing on the weight for some reason. I started "Biggest Loser" with my co-workers over a month ago and I feel like I have gained since starting because the more I focus on losing weight, and weighing in the harder it is to lose. I am getting frustrated because it seems like the only way I can drop a lb or two is when I only eat once all day- and that is just rediculous!!!. ARRGGG
Gah! That is exactly how I am! It seems the more I try, the heavier I end up. Soooo frustrating. But, if I get lazy about it, I'm skinnier yet out of shape. It makes no sense! The only thing that seems to help is yogurt. I have noticed that if I go a week or longer without eating any, I gain weight. *Shrug* Good thing there are a lot of flavors
Seriously, though, I definitely understand your frustration.
I just wanted to pass along a site that I came across when searching for more info on clean eating.
I have been really focused on eating clean lately, and honestly my DH put some cookies in front of my face lastnight that I would never be able to pass up,but I did. It seems like the longer the sugar is out of my system the less the sugary items intice me.
There is so much info on this site it can be a little overwhelming, but listen to some of the videos and decide for yourselves.
