Guess who turned himself in?

The guy who robbed me.  I guess he got wind that the cops had his face on camera from CCT in the bus station. He turned himself into the police station and brought back some of my things (though only the valuables).

I got ALL five pieces of MY JEWELRY BACK!!!!!!(and undamaged/unfondled)!!!! and my hair straightener (which sucks, sorta, cause I just threw down $80 on a new one--maybe I can sell the new one on ebay).  He didn't give back any of my makeup, though, or any of the non-valuable things from my bag he took (bridal shower favours, cards, framed photos of my cousins, etc).  Cops say that the douche-bag insists that he didn't take this stuff, but the cops also said he probably did take them and then tossed them in the trash immediately when he realised they weren't worth anything.

I want my makeup back.  It took ages to accumulate all that lovely makeup.  Oh well.  At least my most precious jewellery is safe and sound.  Matt has been buying me pieces of this jewellery set for years.  It's from Finland and is all a beautiful matching set of silver with pink seed pearls.  He got me a necklace for our wedding gift.  All of it was replaceable, but the sentimentality of the originals would have been lost on the replacements.  I'm so happy to have them back.

So I thought I'd update you guys.  Cause I'm ELATED (and still angry!).

  • I'd still be really p!ssed too. But I'm glad he turned himself in, and you got a few of your things back.

He's still a total doucher though.

  • Oh man!!  I'm so glad you got your jewelry back!

Did you're car get broken into with an over-night bag or something?  I remember your hair straighter post, but I can't remember if you said what happened.

  • OMG - what a great feeling to get the important stuff back!  What kinds of makeup was it that you didn't get back?

  • I understand your disappointment in not getting everything back, but that is great that you were able to get your jewelry back!  I can't believe the guy turned himself in and hadn't sold the stuff yet, pretty amazing!

  • Yay Eva! Awesome news!!  Although it totally sucks that some of the stuff most precious to you, he didn't think was of any value and tossed, but still I'm glad you'll get back some of your belongings and that hopefully justice will be served!

  • That is great news!  It doesn't happen very often that one gets their things back, especially the valuables.  I gave a little chuckle though (not in a mean way) about the fact that he, a man, considered your valuables jewelry AND your hair straightener.  His girlgfriend or wife must have needed one.  Again, great news :-)

I was on my way to school and had packed my suitcase for three nights out of town for my cousin's wedding.  I had to leave directly from school.  When the bus came, I foolishly got on leaving my suitcase alone in the station (RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SECURITY GUARD).  As soon as I realised it, it was already too late.  It had been alone for 20 minutes and some douche had taken it into the men's washroom and gone through it.  The security guard is like 87 years-old and didn't notice this guy wheeling a pink polkadotted suitcase into the men's washroom right beside him.

Mostly MAC stuff that I'd bought for my wedding.  Instead of hiring a girl to do my makeup for the wedding, I spent that money on nice makeup and did it myself.  So I lost my nice gel cream eyeliner, my mascara, my blushes and eyeshadows, my concealer and finishing powder.  And my most beloved eyebrow shadow from sephora (sigh).

  • oh no, and MAC is expensive :(  If I had any extras of these I'd send them your way (blush, finishing powder, etc.), but I use a smattering of Benefit and Smashbox, not much MAC.  sorry, sweetie.

  • I am so sorry this happened to you but am glad to hear you at least got some of your stuff back.  I can talk to my brother about some Mac makeup, he tends to get really great discounts on stuff.
