Moms of "older" babies

What was baby's first food (besides cereal)? We've been doing cereal for a couple weeks and I thought about steaming and pureeing some carrots tonight just for fun.

Re: Moms of "older" babies

  • We did peas first, then carrots, bananas, green beans, sweet potatoes (I just looked at my calendar from last year).

  • Amelia LOVES sweet potatoes!  We did peas, green beans and carrots first closely followed by peaches (loves those, too), pears and bananas.

  • She seriously hated the carrots. I mean bad. Maybe some other day.

  • Maybe she's a fruit kind of girl.

  • We did sweet potatoes first.  We've also tried bananas, pears, and carrots.  I think it took a few times before he understood what to do.  Now he loves to eat.

  • We did sweet potatoes and bananas first. JJ liked both...but since he's gotten older, his preference has gone towards fruits than veggies. It's WWIII in our house when I try to get him to eat veggies now.

  • Our dr actually had us do things backwards from what we normally read is done.  We actually started with bananas and blueberries and then moved to the cereals - then the orange veggies (sweet potatoes, carrots, squash) then green veggies then other fruits...  Taste buds change so much as well as the mood to eat different things - I think they say it can take up to 15 separate tries to get a taste for something.  The orange veggies are nice and sweet so they are well loved - the green veggies - pureed anyway - he would eat at first but we had to hide it under fruit on the spoon a lot of times as he got older.  Don't blame him though - pureed green slop is kinda gross.   Now that he is starting to feed himself he loves to pick up peas and other veggies and eat them and will eat smaller pieces of meat and loves to try what we are having.   I didn't do the pureed meat as much - kinda grossed me out and he wasn't much of a fan either.
