I just woke up this morning to see the terrible videos from NZ. Fingers crossed that all will be okay for you and your family!
Re: **Kathiiy**
Thank you for thinking of me.
Thankfully my family is all fine, and have power and water at thier homes. My close friends have been accounted for. One said her boyfriend was trapped in a falling building but made it out safely. And my bestfriends business had the roof cave in, he said everyone made it out in time.
A workmate said she saw a tender side of my yesterday as I sobbed at my desk! The cathedral was the heart of our city, and to see it damaged just tore out my heart.
I cannot describe how it feels to watch my home town in ruins on the tv, and not be able to help anyone, and the guilt for not being in the same situation as my loved ones.I'm glad your family is safe. I can imagine the feeling of helplessness being far away. I'm sure though they feel better that you are safe and one less person to worry about. I'm sure your calls and thoughts for them are much appreciated. Is it possible for you to send/donate/organize things where you are to help them? That may help with how you are feeling also.
I hope this doesn't negatively impact your move in a few months!?
Yes, we can donate to the Red Cross, although at the moment they are only asking for cash and the post in and out of the city has been cut.
I have asked them what they would like me to take when I visit in three weeks time.
And yes, it means our move will have to be rethought. Even though my house is still standing, the business I was supposed to work in has (again) been destroyed. I can imagine with so many businesses gone, jobs will be hard to find as they rebuild the city. So we may just have to stay here for a time longer.
Will just have to wait and see. Desperate to get home now!
