ever contacted for a job through linkdin
a friend of mine was just contacted for a job by a recruiter. I guess that is how the whole linkdin thing works I am not really sure but has anyone had success with this? He is really wanting to find a new gig so it would be a great opportunity.

I have been contacted a few times by industry specific recruiters thru Linkedin. This is exactly why networking on Linkedin can be helpful in learning about opportunities!
It never hurts to be in contact with people who might know about job openings. And, it never hurts to listen to what a recruiter has to say!

DItto. I get contacted by recruiters and HR personnel through linkedin all the time. They either call, email or send me a message on linkedin. They actually call my work # by calling the general # and asking for whoever they're looking for. It's pretty common in the auditing/accounting/finance world.
