Now this pro Obama argument stumps me

While discussing politics with a friend over email (why God, why?) we went back and forth on a few points and then she ended by saying - in reference to Sen. Obama - "plus he is really good looking."

Say what now?

I'm not saying he's unattractive, but I wouldn't describe him as good looking.  Wish I knew how to make a poll!

Re: Now this pro Obama argument stumps me

  • I am attracted to him in a "damn he is so smart and that makes him sexy" way. I dont think he is conventionally sexy or anything.

Although that is in no way the reason I am voting for him LOL

  • DH and I were just talking about this over lunch!  No one ever usually talks about Obama's hotness.  I don't either, actually.  I don't find him unattractive at all, but I don't necessarily find him super sexy.  I agree with Dev.  I would be attracted to him in general for his personality.

  • Wow. That is about as good a reason as those people who want to vote for McCain because Palin is hot. My god, people are idiots.

Excuse me for a moment. There is a wall behind me, and I need to bang my head against a few thousand times.

  • a bride on the knot actually made the argument that women shouldn't be allowed to vote because they only vote on looks. She claimed there was a mythical study that showed that the majority of women voted for Clinton because they were attracted to him.
  • Well at least your friend had other reasons for voting for Obama besides he is good looking.

This reminds me of the conversation I had with my son's friend whose only reason he was voting for Obama was he was not the old guy. He couldn't name one other thing about Obama as far as issues or even who his running mate was. UGH!

  • Although not why I voted for him, I think Obama is smokin'. If I were single and he were single and I had a shot in hell of meeting him, he'd get it. Devil

    That is hilarious.

So she wrote back to say she's just trying to point out that he's better looking than McCain.

  • I find intelligence and certain personality traits attractive; therefore, yes I find Obama attractive. Clinton - blech! He seems/ed a little greasy to me in that department.
  • I think he's good looking, but I think a lot of that is based on his personality and charisma rather than his actual looks.

That said, not a good reason to vote for him or anyone else.
