Reminder! Book Club next Monday @ 6:30
Who's in? Just so I have an idea. I'll also email/PM you a list of discussion questions in case you want to take a peak before Monday. PM/FB/email me if you need my address.
Also a teaser pre-book club question/topic with no spoilers...
Who would you cast for the main roles (Libby, Ben, Patty, Runner, Diondra, Trey - as well as any other characters you can think of) in a movie based on the book?
Re: Reminder! Book Club next Monday @ 6:30
Is Ashlee bringing her plethora of unused wine? Not that yours would go unused.
I'm thinking about making this mexican layer dip that brittjoy brought last time that was FREAKING DELICIOUS (is this the right one, brittjoy?) and cheddar puffs if anyone wants to throw anything else in the mix.
I'm there! I'll bring some sort of app.
Younger Ben I'd imagine Hayden Christensen from when he was in Life as a House... dyed his hair, painted his nails, etc.
Libby... I'll have to think... I'm bad at casting people in a role that I already haven't seen them in.
Just found out we're hosting 14 at Easter so I might hold onto it until then, but if it's still around after Easter, it works out well b/c I host book club after that.
But I can bring a bottle or two if you'd like! Also, if anyone wants I have a magnum bottle of sparkling wine that I have no clue what to do with. It might be fruity?
Adult Libby - Michelle Williams since she has a button nose.
Runner - Mickey Rourke
Patty - Julianne Moore, really skinny
I want to use my mixer & I saw a recipe for a cheeseball in the KA cookbook. Do you mind if I bring that?
I'll bring wine too. Claire Dunphy Special if ya get my drift
Okay, this is really random, but for Libby I was trying to think of someone young, awkward, thin and not traditionally pretty. The best google results I got was for Thora Birch:
Sounds perfect!
Red or white wine?
Yes, 31 or 32 as an adult in the story I think. But I picture her as a really, really young looking 31. So oldish Thora Birch is what I was picturing
I keep thinking of people from Where the Heart Is that could fit these roles. Like the guy who plays Forney can be adult Ben...
For Diondra, I'm trying to think of someone who has crazy eyes, and black curly hair all gel-scrunched.... and trashy
Either. Or both.
Both it is.
I'll be there!
I'm bad at the whole casting thing, but I think you got it exactly right with Thora Birch.
I picture Diondra as white, but white trash white.
I can bring some sparkling grape juice if any of the other pregnant ladies would drink it and maybe a fruit and cheese platter. I've been craving fruit and cheese lately.
Sounds great!
I'll do something with veggies and maybe a homemade hummus or other dip of some sort since it sounds like cheese is covered!
I'll be there. Can you PM me your address please?
Also, I'll most likely bring some kind of yummy but healthy app in keeping with my attempt to do something about my ginormous ass (yeah...wedding this weekend = major diet fail).
All of you have email.
Lucky if your email address has changed since the elfster exchange in December, let me know!
I'm in as well. Sorry for the late reply. I don't have a work meeting so I'm actually going to make it this time.
What else needs bringing? I was supposed to make cake balls last time, should I do that?
I'm only halfway through the book, but I picture Runner as Gary Cole a la Talladega Nights. I could see Bill Nighy playing him as well.
I like Michelle Williams as Adult Libby.
I had someone in mind for Diondra last night, but I can't remember who it was...
Just forwarded the email to you as well!
Cake balls sound delish! But feel free to bring something easier if that's a PITA.
It won't be a PITA. All I'm good for in the kitchen is baking, to be honest, and Bakerella posted cheesecake balls a few weeks ago which have been crying out to me to be made.
My previous comment is retracted. You must make these and I don't care if it's a PITA.
I second that motion.
*smacks gavel*
So I was just Googling cheeseball variations & I came across this:
Aunt Phyllis' Magnificent Cheese Ball
