DH and I have decided to have date night every Sunday starting @ 7 (we both work weekends a lot and that's a "safe" time to assume that we'll both be done. We have no kids and very little money. We like playing sports, watching movies, and cooking new recipes. He likes playing cards and board games. I'm not a big fan of games like that, but I only really enjoy them in big groups. We don't have many friends periods, let alone being friends w/ couples? Any ideas on what we can do to keep it fresh and interesting?

Re: Date Night Ideas
Here are my ideas:
Go out to dinner (at a cheap place, if necessary) and then take a walk
Window shop
Cook dinner at home and go out for dessert or coffee
Buy some sports equipment (football, frisbee, tennis rackets) and go play. Or go to a batting cage/bowling alley/skating rink.
Have some beer/wine and play board games. Invite friends over, even if they aren't couples.
Try recipes that you've never tried before and cook them together.
Honestly, one of our favorite things to do is grill out, drink some beer/wine, play some music and just talk about whatever!
Picnics, long walks, board games, museums, art galleries, local plays, pot luck dinners with friends, poker night with friends, movie dates, coffee and dessert dates. DH and I try to do 1 date night a week.
costco hot dog and coke $1.50
a bottle of wine and a red box dvd then bow chikka wow wow. less than $10
I can completely relate to wanting date night however no funds to do so. We bought a handheld GPS and started geocaching. If you've been before then great, if not look it up. Basically it's a treasure hunt for things people hide. It's super fun. The GPS is kinda expense about 100$ however that is the only cost and you can use it for years. We still find a few when we go on vacation. We also go on lots of picnics. And movies at home. We move the couch really close to the tv so it's like a theater and have loads of snacks and watch movies ALL day. Walk in a local park. Put a puzzle together, together. Put a model car together. Do Fondue for dinner. There are lots of things...just use your imagination.
