Cupcakes and other things
So, those cupcakes I told you about last week, I made last night. We had a couple that wouldn't fit in the box, so DH and I split one. Pretty tasty. A little weird with the cookie in the middle, but all in all, decent. I will blog them.
And, DH decided that he would rather have me cook his favorite dinner instead of going out tonight (yay!). When I asked him what he wanted for dessert, he said tiramisu. So I made that last night. And it may or may not be a fail, but I won't know until tonight. The problems are twofold: 1. I accidentally bought two kinds of mascarpone, and one of them is a lot thinner than the other, and I had to use a little of it, so I'm hoping the filling won't just run everywhere. It seemed pretty firm-ish last night, and it is sitting in the fridge all day, so I'm hoping it will be okay. 2. I couldn't find ladyfingers in the store, so I made my own. I was all proud of myself until I read a little note in the recipe that says that fresh ones will get too mushy after dipping them in the coffee/rum. So I stuck them in the oven on low for a bit to dry them out, and I really hope they do okay. I hate when I spend a bunch of time making something, only to have it fail.
Anyway, all of this baking meant I was up way past my bedtime. I wanted to call in sick today, but my darn moral compass got in the way.

I can't wait to hear how your tiramisu turned out. I've been wanting to try and make it myself but am too afraid I'll screw it up. That and I can't find ladyfingers anywhere, either.
Yay for cupcakes! I want cupcakes now. Dang.
