have you read it? did you like it?
after finishing Hunger Games, I need another series to get into. I'm finishing up 19 Minutes now, and have a few singles to read here and there, but I love series. recommend one to me if you've read one you absolutely love!

Re: Outlander series
I really love Diana Gabaldon. I think she's a great writer, and I think her attention to detail is amazing. They do get a little weak in the middle, but I found that the last one picked right back up.
I blame Jamie for my deep love of a Scottish accent.

I haven't read the Outlander series, but I agree with the Uglies series...
Also, 19 Minutes completely freaked me out. The area where the book takes place is there area that I teach in. While the school itself is fictional, a lot of the places/agencies/hospitals that are described in the book are real and the demographic is definitely the kids I teach. Talk about hitting close to home...totally wigged me out.

I rarely ever do not finish books - in fact, I'm sure I can count them on one hand - and I didn't finish the second Outlander book. Diana Gabaldon is the most excessively verbose author I've ever come across, which is a shame because I really enjoyed the story and thought the series had potential, but really, I'm more interested in Jamie and Clair than the damn chandeliers and wall coverings that have paragraphs and paragraphs all to themselves.
I followed up Mockingjay with a re-read of the Mortal Instruments trilogy
my to-read shelf:
34/150

It's worse than that I think. I mean geez, I'd gladly reread The Hobbit over this stuff. It was just unnecessary.

I actually love historical fiction, so I think I'm gunna go ahead and pick it up. I really enjoy descriptive authors too, so I'm sure I'll love it!

Mandee, you read Pillars of the Earth, right? If so (and you liked it), you'll probably like these.
I enjoy these ones a lot more - I especially love that the characters age throughout the series (and drastically). It's really nice to see a love story evolve beyond youth and beauty, IMHO. Just save the side novels (the Lord John series) and the graphic novel (don't even bother with that) until the end. If you have a basic sense of the history surrounding Bonny Prince Charley and the American Revolution, it'll make the reads even more enjoyable.
