Re: BotB

  • 1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week?  I've been very excited to read everything I can get my hands on about what's going on with me and baby every day/week, etc.  It fascinates me.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared?  Not really.

3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? My mom, not very.  She and I barely talk now, so I can't imagine she'll be around much.  My dad lives so far away, so that's tough.  But I'm sure he'll still be as involved as possible.  My IL's will want/try/be very active.  I anticipate they'll drive me kind of crazy sometimes :)

L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? No way, no how, none of them.  Non-negotiable.  I don't even want anyone knowing we're heading to the hospital, if possible.

Updates: I am officially in my 2nd tri and eager to hopefully soon have some of my energy back.  Things are good though, I cannot complain.  And I am 100% out of the pregnancy closet.  I didn't intend to ever really fb announce it, but was starting to get text inquiries and random "I heard from ___ but didn't want to ask..." questions...someone posted on my fb wall, then deleted it and sent me a private message, leading to another private message, etc...so I finally just posted it.  It was nice to see all the well wishes, so I am glad I finally just did it.

  • 1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week?  go with the flow.  I read the book each month to see what's coming up, but that's about it.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared?  my mom never really did.  If anyone told me about their experiences around my MIL, she took that opportunity to try to turn it into a "competition."  it was really odd.

3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life?  I thought my MIL would be over the top involved and I was kind of worried about it.   Turns out, she's very hands off with DS.  when we go to visit, she maybe spends 15 minutes with DS and the rest of the time she kind of ignores him.  though if my parents are around, she acts like she can't get enough of him.  My parents are pretty much how I expected them to be - involved when we're there, minding their own business when we're not.

L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver?  not going to happen.

First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected?  For some reason, I didn't expect to need him so much at night.  He was very very supportive and helpful from the moment we came home.

UpdatesOur anatomy scan is on Friday and I'm nervous...I haven't really felt this baby hardly at all yet and I figured I'd feel him/her by now.  So, here's hoping that all is ok!

  • 1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I have been mostly a go with the flow pregnant lady, although I do read the weekly email from baby center about how LO is growing. I relaxed a lot once I entered the second trimester.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? My mom has told me a few stories that she can remember, mostly about craving sushi and banana split sundaes while pregnant with me and having 9 months of morning sickness with my brother. I have heard some stories about MIL's pregnancy through FIL. They keep scaring me by reminding me that DH was 10 lbs. 6 oz. when born and MIL had several tears.

3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? I think my mom will be really active in my child's life, especially because this will be her first grandchild. I think FIL will be active in LO's life, but more so if we have a boy.

L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? I feel that only DH and the medical staff should be in the room during delivery and my mom and in-laws feel the same way. My cousin on the other hand feels she should be there to film it for me (hells no!).

Updates: I tested positive for group b strep and I get to start antibiotics today. At least my doctor caught it early enough to clear it up before I go into labor.

  • 1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week?

With DS I was week by week reading, this time I know what to expect.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared?

My mom did with DS, none this time around.

Updates: We are TEAM BLUE!  So excited for Baby boy # 2

  • 1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I was not very 'go with the flow' but also had to stop reading the weekly/monthly books. Honestly, i think my postpartum depression/OCD started while pregnant, so when i read the 'bad' stuff, I really obsessed about it, it was not good for me.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? My MIL shares more than my mom, and has lots of interesting stories. The one thing that I should have mentioned to my doc, but didn't was John's shoulders were bigger than his head and almost got stuck. Neither of his sister's were, so i figured since E was a girl, I would be safe, but she has her dad's shoulders. My OB thinks she may have gotten stuck/hurt if she had not been OP and if I had delivered vaginally.

3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? Pretty active. All of them, although they wish they lived closer. My ILs have already driven up quite a few times.

L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? They both visited while I was in early labor, but no way for delivery!

First days: How much help did you need/get from your spouse/partner in the first few weeks? Was it about what your expected? Recovering from a C-section made things super hard. I thought I would be good with him going back to work after a week, but I wasn't. After his first week back at work, he cut back to part time for a week. John has been amazing, he is a great dad and husband during our transition to family.

  • TTC: A long TTC journey can take it?s toll on everyone. If you?ve been TTC for awhile, how is your spouse/partner handling it?  He handled it fine (it took us 12 cycles).  He was discouraged with each passing month, but didn't stress or get upset.

1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I was pretty "go with the flow" in the first tri.  I really enjoyed the book "Your Pregnancy, Week-by-Week" for info, but I didn't stress over anything I read in it.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? There are stories on both sides, yes.  It's not my place to share them online, but I've enjoyed hearing them.

3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life?  They will both be very active.  His parents are local and mine aren't, so my ILs will naturally have more time with the baby.  But we'll make sure my parents are as involved as possible, and we already have travel plans set up for the first 6 months.

L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? Neither will be, it will just be my husband and doula.  If my mom lived here... maybe... but probably not.

Updates: I lost my MP on Sunday.  There was a gush and I thought it was my water breaking, so that was a bummer when I realized it wasn't.  :)  The PUPPPs are not driving me insane, which is a very good thing.  I'm just having a lot of BH contractions and getting more uncomfortable by the moment.  Come on, baby!!

  • TTC: A long TTC journey can take it?s toll on everyone. If you?ve been TTC for awhile, how is your spouse/partner handling it? It didn't take us as long as either of us had thought. DH had been anticipating many months possibly up to a year or more of trying.

1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I get an e-mail. It actually more annoys me than anything else. I have been really go with the flow--which is not necessarily like me.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? Kinda... but nothing graphic. Apparently I kicked so hard that I bruised my mom visibly. All I hear is DH's family has big babies. But my family has small babies. So... 3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? Very. My in-laws live very close--East Bay, and I know will want to be as active and involved as possible. My parents live in WA, so they won't be as close, but still very active.L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? My mom is working in WA and I will go up and visit after. I don't think I would want her in the room, but it was a non issue. I offered it to my MIL but she said she would rather just be invited to the hospital. Which is more than fine with me.

  • TTC: A long TTC journey can take it?s toll on everyone. If you?ve been TTC for awhile, how is your spouse/partner handling it?  The realization that we have no access to testing, treatment, or (probably) adoption resources out here has caused some frustration on both our parts for the past month or so. C had been very (almost annoyingly) optimistic and sort of reluctant to admit issues in the past, but is starting to take things a bit more seriously now that we'll have some tough decisions to make in the coming months. It's been a rough past few weeks on the TTC front, but I'm really thankful that C is optimistic and just as excited about our future family as I am, whenever and however we're able to grow it. He's good at being stable and reminding me that things usually work themselves out when I'm obsessing or having a freak-out. :)

  • TTC: A long TTC journey can take it?s toll on everyone. If you?ve been TTC for awhile, how is your spouse/partner handling it?

He's always been the super optimistic one and even now he tries to tell me it wasn't that bad, it took a year each time we were actively TTC.  I love him for that but sometimes it's annoying.  LOL!

1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week?

Right now I am just going with the flow.  I've been at this stage before so there isn't anything new happening that I haven't already read about.

When they laughter is the best medicine, DH takes it to heart. He always tries to make me laugh (and it works) when we were going through treatments. He still continues to make me laugh during my tough days. I am a little concerned that DH does not have the outlet like I do here. I keep asking him how he is doing and he is says he is fine. He is more concerned with my well being.

Update-after the last cycle was a bust, we are taking another break from treatments and I have decided to (re) focus on my weight and go with acupuncture for the next several months. While my hopes of having a 2011 baby fade, I am keeping an open mind and taking it one day at a time. That is all I can do.

  • TTC: A long TTC journey can take it?s toll on everyone. If you?ve been TTC for awhile, how is your spouse/partner handling it?  we were only trying for a couple months before we got our bfp

1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week?  in the beginning i was interested in what was going on so i would read weekly stuff, but now i am more go with the flow.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared?  not really in much detail.

3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? sadly, not very active since they live so far away, which has been a source of my irritation/frustration/sadness lately.  oh well, i try not to let it bother me too much and make me bitter.

L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? nope, not invited at all.

  • TTC: A long TTC journey can take it?s toll on everyone. If you?ve been TTC for awhile, how is your spouse/partner handling it? We TTC'd for 3 years and I didn't handle it very well towards the end, but J was a total trooper. I feel kind of bad now because he was dealing with work, school, and a very emotional wife. I owe him big time.

1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I was kind of both. I thought it was interesting to know how the baby is developing, but didn't need to know every single little detail.

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? I've always known my mom's pregnancy story while she was PG with me, but I've never heard MILs story. My mom was apparently allergic to the extra pregnancy hormones and suffered throughout almost her entire pregnancy with me.

3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? Since we live so close to MIL, I'm sure she'll be a fairly active part of S's life, but I know my parents want to be there too so I'm sure they'll be active too.

  • TTC: A long TTC journey can take it?s toll on everyone. If you?ve been TTC for awhile, how is your spouse/partner handling it? All in all we were lucky and didn't TTC for very long (10ish months from beginning to the sticky baby) I know that I was starting to stress a lot but H was very calm and supportive.

1st trimester: Are you a ?go with the flow? kind of pregnant lady or do you need to know every detail about what your body and baby are doing week by week? I loved getting my weekly e-mails and reading "your pregnancy week by week"

2nd trimester: Has your mom or mother-in-law shared their pregnancy stories with you? What?s the most interesting story they?ve shared? My Mom has shared ours, nothing too eventful there. According to her Dr she was "built to have babies" I'm hoping that I will be the same! My MIL had difficult births with both H and my BIL resulting in C-Sections both times. My H's story has been the most interesting so far, considering the Dr gave her 2 options after 2 days of labor: a "difficult" forcep delivery or a c-section. Yikes.

3rd trimester: How active do you think your parents or in-laws will be in your child?s life? Not quite there but I see all of them being pretty active. We live in the same town as my ILS and this will be their first grand child. My parents already have tons of grandkids that they're very active with so I'm sure it will be the same with us, as much as is possible with the distance.

L&D: How do you feel about your mom or in-laws being in the room while you labor/deliver? I would like my Mom and some family members there but I would not like to have my ILS there.

I went off the pill in October, but we've only just really started trying for the last couple of cycles. I'm fairly emotional and have had a few "episodes". DH is pretty understanding about it. I know he's willing to wait, but understands I'm not. Here's hoping for a positive test this month!
