6 Month Roll Call

Well ladies, we've been married six months, how are y'all doin?

I've been MIA here, but I still think about you all, just thought I'd say hi.

Any major differences in being a wife? Are you used to your new name yet? Got the signature down? Got a ring mark or tan line?

Tell me something interesting 'bout your life right now.

Re: 6 Month Roll Call

  • I've been doing good and chugging along.

I love my rings and they still catch my eye and make me get lost in their sparkle, I haven't gotten used to wearing two at once though (it feels so crowded) so sometimes I wear my e-ring on my right hand.

I love my new name (my maiden name was a first name so I'm happy to get rid of it, but still miss it every once in a while because it was unique, unlike my new very common last name).

My broken foot is healed, but it's still not 100%, one year later :( I'm still not wearing heels or riding my bike, boo.

Not a whole lot has changed between us, we're still same old, same old. Last night I watched Leaving Las Vegas for the first time and it filled me with the feeling that life is short, and I only have so much time with H, gotta make it count and show him I really love him! (I'm not a terminal alcoholic like Nic Cage, but the movie hit me in a sentimental spot). Anyway, everyone better give their man a big ol' hug tonight!

  • DH and I are buying a house, (hopefully) closing March 9th. We're thinking about TTC in May depending on our situation then. Possibility of DH getting a govt job between now and then. I actually have a callus on my ring finger because the two rings together are wider than the space between my knuckles. Doesn't hurt, but can def feel it. I'm still not used to my married name when people ask me what my name is or when I see it written down. I sign it without thinking though, I've got my signature and my initials down because of all the paperwork we've had to sign for the house.

We're taking honeymoon part two starting tomorrow. We're flying down to FL with my parents to go to Universal that we didn't for our honeymoon cause it was too crowded with the Harry Potter thing just opening.

  • I feel as though DH and I are really just getting settled in now that the half year mark (ah!) has passed.  We bought a house in July, and we're about 3/4 of the way done painting it, but there are so many other little cosmetic things we want to do to it.  I like playing house with him and even though he could really care less how I decorate, it's cute to me when he adds his input.  DH has an interview tomorrow for a promotion at work, and if he gets it, it will make him just so happy (so I'm really praying that he gets it).  Fingers crossed!

Over my spring break, we're hopefully going to a travel agent to plan our belated honeymoon, which we would hope to take over the week of our anniversary.  This is probably what I'm most excited for.  We've never gone on vacation together, so I feel like we're missing out on that part of being newlyweds.  But overall, being married is great (besides the bills and the dishes)!

  • I have been mia too. We just moved and haven't had internet for the past month. We're doing great and very happy in our new jobs and townhouse. We adopted a 5 month old lab/golden retriever puppy 2 weeks ago, so we are now "parents"!

  • We are enjoying married life.  I still can't remember to use my married name, but I'm getting there, and I love having it.  My old name was boring, so having a new one is fun.

I love wearing my rings and I don't ever take them off.

Life hasn't changed much.  H is still in school, and I am still nannying.  The big exciting thing for is that we start TTC in April, so we're getting close!

Also, my best friend is getting married in June, so I am planning her bachelorette/shower weekend for mid-March.  I'll be flying to Atlanta for the weekend to have fun with her!  Yay!

  • DH and I lived together before getting married, so nothing has really changed.  Now we're just legally binded to one another.  I have totally gotten used to my new last name, but I occasionally have slip-ups where I introduce myself with my maiden name.  There are a few people, like my hairdresser that I still use my maiden name when making appointments because otherwise, they wouldn't recognize me just by my voice.

No ring mark or tan line -- on the contrary, my rings are actually a little loose.  It's not from lost weight, but because my hands stay cold and don't swell in the winter.

My life consists of classes, cleaning, and taking care of our pooch.  We're still in the same apartment, but the lease is up Sept.1, so we will probably move into a townhome or condo for a few years.  No babies for a good, long time, by choice.

  • funny you mentioned signing your new name because today was the first time i signed my maiden name since i got married! i had to sign something for work but someone else was talking to me and i just signed my old name - i felt so stupid! i'm used to my new last name because i'm a teacher and since the first day of school, i've heard them call me it at least 1,000 times!

i love living with DH, we didn't live together before so its a lot of fun. he's very helpful around the house and is good w/ laundry, dishes, and all the household stuff. i'm still working on the cooking aspect of being a wifey. nothing else majorly exciting going on here!

  • I struggle with the Mrs. part of my name.  At work, I am called Dr. so and so.  Outside of work, whenever I hear Mrs. so and so, I am still at a loss.  The last name I got down.  The rest is still new.  The signature I think I have down too.

We also lived together before we got married.  However, we never joined finances, etc.  So that has been a big adjustment.

As far as the ring, I am going to take it in over spring break and get sodered.  I never did it before the wedding and regret it now.  My band is somehow bigger than my e-ring and it keeps turning around.

What else is new?  We are getting ready to go to St. Kitts over Memorial day weekend. I am very excited.   After all the snow we have gotten, it can't come soon enough.
