Re: Your favorite house?
fav house on the market in towns we're (theoretically, once our house sells) looking in, or fav house that is close enough to our price range to make a low ball offer?
these are extremely different things.
IN the towns your in...
That house is really cute. Nicely updated but still has the "old world" charm to it. I love the porch!!!
This is my favorite house for sale in our town.
ETA: This is no where near our price range. Just a dream.
way too much house, but has a full skyline view.
this is in my parents' neighborhood. I think its a foreclosure based on the price. Tons of potential.
I don't have a favorite house, but I LOVE the house you posted. Adorable.
Since I know nothing about the COL there, where would a house like that fall in the market? Low...middle...or high end? $625k would buy an amazing house where I live..probably one with several acres of land as well.
I don't know the town of Milton all that well, but I'd say middle-ish (of all the houses on the market there).
ETA: It really depends on the town in MA as to whether a price is low, medium, or high. For example, the house I posted is roughly the same price, but it is on the high end for my town (based on what else was available).
$625k here varies based on a few miles. It really depends on the neighborhood (not that it wouldn't buy a good amount of house, certainly a forever house if you can swing the taxes to be in the right school district - not that we have any intention of looking to buy a long-term house), but some towns it buys more than others.
You can get a studio or even a 1bdrm in some decent neighborhoods in the city for that.
In the 635K range, this is what you'd get in my town:

This is one for sale that I love:

This is what you'd get on the market in the county i live in...

This is what $625k gets you in my parents' town. It is nice and in an excellent (though not walkable) neighborhood, but no way in hell I'd spend that kind of money to be in that school district. We'll probably buy there for convienience but at a much lower price point. We plan to move in 7-10 yrs.
I really like this house that is close to our current area, it is also above our price point, but I really love the older architecture ; http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/4252-Vacation-Ln_Arlington_VA_22207_M56965-29666
