I have to AW my little brother :)
He's an eighth grader on the high school swim team for the second year. The JV sectional meet was today and his goal was to get a fast enough time to earn a letter. Even if he came in last, he just wanted the letter.
Well, he shaved five whole seconds off his best 500 freestyle time this year (and 18 off of last season's best!) and swam it in a 5:30, which is 4.5 seconds faster than he needed to to letter.
I'm so, so proud of him! I even teared up a little when it because obvious he was going to do it. (dang hormones!) Kennedy was SO excited to cheer for her uncle she was yelling "Go Seth Go!" every time there was anyone swimming. lol.

My Blog
he's pretty proud. And apparently, he tapered really well this year.
I think the pool was fast too, it seemed like most heats had faster times than the PRs listed in the program. But he looked really strong at the end still.
LOL. He comes by it honestly. I was on the gymnastics team, and you lettered if you competed at so many meets (I think you could miss one or two). I broke a toe during warm ups and still did beam. I was determined to not miss a meet.
So, did you letter in that race? I can't believe you were able to swim it with a temp that high!

Oh the things you do to letter in high school. It is funny that my mom let me race, as she is a nurse, but she knew how much it meant to me and how hard I had been working for it. To letter we had compete at sections, we had a pretty large team and many did not make it. That year we also won sections, I am so glad that I got to at least be apart of it for one race and it makes for a great story
