Thank you all...

I am truly blessed to have such wonderful friends to have planned my wedding with and become close with.  Thank you all so much for your kind words, thoughts and prayers either on here or on FB.

It was such an unexpected turn of events that none of us saw coming - not even him.  He was throwing up all day yesterday when my mom came home from working a school election.  He told her he'd been sick all day and she got him some emetrol to settle his stomach.  He said he'd finally started feeling better and was able to eat some soup.  Later that night he went upstairs to take his shower about 11:30 pm when my mom noticed he'd been up there for awhile yet never heard the water running.  She went up to check on him and he was on the bathroom floor, already gone.  Mike and I had our phones turned off when we went to bed so she had the Woodhaven cop get in touch with our PD here in Southgate.  The cops were banging on our door at 12:45 am and I never heard anything; Mike had sleepwalked over to the couch and heard them banging on the door and woke me up.  They told me to call her ASAP and when I did she told me dad had fallen in the bathroom; I thought maybe he fell in the shower.  We got to her house about 1:15 am and as soon as we walked in the door the EMTs were leaving and she said she knew he was gone but didn't want to tell me on the phone.  We called my sister and BIL up north then started going through things of his in his office.  The funeral directors arrived about 3:00 this morning to take him away and mom, Mike and I tried to get some sleep (I failed).

Our house was filled with family and neighbors/friends all day which helped make the day bearable.  All I need now is a decent amount of sleep.  Thank you again so much for thinking of me.  I'm still waiting for the nightmare to end & it's going to be a while before reality sets in....

Love you all!!!!

  • Cindy I am so sorry, I know how awful it can be to lose a parent. I can't imagine it being so sudden though. It will take time for it to get easier, and missing someone so special in your life will never go away. I still have moments, 6 years later as of today actually . . . just realized that . . . I still miss my mom terribly. I greatly value any pictures I have of her, and the weekend after she passed I bought a bunch of multi-photo frames and made one with various pictures of her and her with the rest of our family for each of my brothers, my dad, my aunt (my mom's sister) and myself. It helped to reflect on how lucky I was to have had her that long. I hope you keep that in mind for yourself, and definitely be there for your mom. She'll need it most of all. ::::HUGE hug::::

  • Oh Cindy, my heart breaks for you. Any loss is difficult, but the unexpected makes it all the more tragic. I have a few very close friends who lost their fathers unexpectedly...please know that, though you will likely never go a day without thinking of him, you will be able to move forward from this horrible time. Please let us know if there is anything we can do from afar! Left Hug
