I vaguely know what's going on, but all I know is that they funding for PP may be cut, right?
I think people have a misconception about PP. And Ive felt that.
When I was 14 I was put on birth control to regulate my periods and control cramping. At 17 my dad lost his job- therefore we lost our insurance. (Yes I was sexually active but if I hadnt been, I still would have needed my BCP) I had to go to PP and they only charged me $10, based on my PT fast food income, and gave me all the free condoms I needed. My grandmother frowned on my visiting the clinic and said it was dirty and gross and they were "murderers". Since then Ive gone back a handful of times for yearly exams, BCP and medical advice and think highly of them. I hope the funding isnt cut, this was a very good resource for me when needed and I feel it would be the same for another person as well.
Re: Planned Parenthood?
I totally agree!
By law, federal funding cannot go towards abortions (the thing that most these legislators are up in arms about). Unfortunately, this is going to do nothing but hurt women and teens from having the life saving HIV tests, cancer screenings and routine exams that they need. It also might hinder the number of contraceptives that they are able to give out free of charge (which will then lead to more babies and a bigger drain on society).
I haven't been to PP since college - but they were there when I needed them too. I donated a little money a few days ago and hope they get more donations and support during this time.

i'm a huge advocate of PP as well. I used them in college because i felt like it was "safer" than using the school-based health system for my sexually active needs. I felt much more annonymous there and i liked that. it's a great system and i'm sad that more people aren't informed about what they do.
I love PP. They were such a great resource when I was in college. My mom never talked to me about getting a yearly exam, so after going to PP for the morning after pill (stupid story) they were the ones that told me about them, and I've gone yearly since. Well the last 2 years have been to my doctor since I now have insurance.
I agree with Bucks, I wish the conservatives would really look into what services PP provides!
