I'll be in town this weekend for CCYC and we have all day on Saturday off and was wondering what kind of fun stuff we could do? I've lived in NC my whole life and have never been to Raleigh. It's sad, I know.
Are any of you taking your youth groups to it?

Re: Raleigh area ladies
What is CCYC?
What about the museums in downtown Raleigh? I *think* they're free, unless there's a specific exhibit you go into.
Are you going to be with your youth group or just you? I ask because my suggestions are more for adults, I guess.
You could go to the Farmer's Market. If you want to shop, I would suggest North Hills, Cameron Village, or Crabtree. If you want to play Putt-Putt, play games, etc there is Frankie's Fun Park. Of course there are a lot of museums around the city.
My mind is drawing a blank. I will keep thinking.
If you are looking for a fun spot for Saturday breakfast, Big Ed's in City Market (area of downtown Raleigh) is really fun. They have typical southern food that is delicious!
As for activities, you could do the different museums in downtown, take a Segway tour (not sure if that is in your budget), browse the flea market or even the Farmer's market. Although I'm not sure how exciting any of these would be to high schoolers.
I tried to see if there were any events that were going on that you could check out.
ChillyFest 2011 is happening on Fayetteville St (downtown Raleigh)
Animal Grossology sounds like something the kids might enjoy at the Museum of Natural Sciences
There is also a Downtown Raleigh Walking Food Tour that could be fun.
Here is a good listing of things for that day.
Would any of the kids be interested in visiting the local colleges? (NC State, UNC Chapel Hill or any of the other ones) You could always walk around the campus and maybe grab lunch near the school.
So I just looked up your location and you are at the Sheraton in Durham, so you are probably about 20ish minutes from downtown Raleigh. But you could also get over to Chapel Hill or Durham easily too. I just didn't want you to think that the downtown Raleigh stuff would be within walking distance.
Not sure how warm it is supposed to be on Saturday, but the Duke Gardens are really pretty.
