Who does this?

The restaurant DH wants to go to for his birthday is large, and popular.  If most of his friends show up, we're looking at a group of 10-15 people.  The restaurant, doesn't take reservations, unless you reserve a room, which we don't want to do.  And, the girl I just talked to on the phone said they won't even put our name on the list for a table the night of until the entire group is there.  So on a Saturday night, there's no way for me to get there early, put our name down, and wait by myself, to save our friends from waiting for an hour.  So dumb.

  • That's lame!!!

  • There is a restaurant here that has those rules, but it's a huge restaurant that seats like 455 people so it's not that big of an issue.

I really hate not being able to make reservations at restaurants for big groups.

  • That is dumb. Can you call back and ask for a manager? Sometimes the hostess with the mostest doesn't always have the brains, you know?
  • One of the restaurants in town is like that, too - they wouldn't put me on the list until half of my party showed up. It was for a GTG, and the others were coming from OKC to Stillwater...so I waited for 30 minutes for the girls to show up, then we waited another 30 minutes for them to seat us. I was not happy about it, and they knew it.

That's super annoying. I don't like when restaurants don't do that for big parties.

  • Small town person here:  A restaurant that seats 455 people.  That's like huge.  Seriously.  WOW....

Anyway, I hope that the massive restaurant means that it will be no problem getting a table.

Small town restaurant. Ames is only 50,000 people including university students (a little more than half that total), and most of the towns around it are less than 10K (many way less than 10K like my cute little 800 person town). It is ENORMOUS and we have been in and out in less than a half hour before. It's a BBQ joint (they catered our wedding). It's always hopping!
